Summary Under the direction of the Linen Program Supervisor, the Linen Technician I is responsible for receiving and distributing clean linen. He/she is responsible for filling and inventorying linen carts, weighing clean and soiled linen bins, and ensuring all patient care areas have a proper amount of linen.
He/she is also responsible for cleaning the linen storage areas.
Responsibilities
Follows departmental and other regulatory standards regarding all cleaning policies and procedures (using proper disinfectants, labeling chemical bottles, keeping an organized cart, etc.) Cleans and disinfects all clean linen rooms to provide safe linens for patient care. Transports linen hygienically to reduce the risk of cross contamination to clean linen.
Performs all essential functions following established safety and infection control requirements (perform hand hygiene, wear PPE, etc.) Ensures soiled and clean linens are not mixed. Identifies and reports any improperly discarded waste or items in soiled linen containers to Supervisor. Inventories linen carts and fills according to par levels.
Ensures linen carts are clean and free of dust. Weighs clean and soiled linen carts for data collection. Responds promptly to requests for additional linen. Inspects clean linen for holes, stains, rips, tears, or other imperfections. Ensures accuracy of proper counts of each linen item when it needs to be inventoried.
Follows the instructions and guidelines set forth by Environmental Services management. Completes other job duties as assigned. Credentials and Qualifications: Six months’ experience in the following: linen handling, healthcare, Environmental Services, customer service, janitorial, or hospitality. Ability to perform basic math calculations including addition, subtraction and multiplication.
Ability to follow basic oral/written instructions in English (for the safety of our patients and staff in an emergency situation). Salary Range $16.00 - $21.83 Salary ranges posted for this position represent the expected base pay range for the role. Actual compensation may vary based on location and a variety of job-related factors, including experience, skills, education, and internal equity among Team Members in similar positions.
