IDENTIFICATION Title: Dispatch Outreach Department: Community Outreach POSITION OBJECTIVE Reporting to the Community Outreach Lead, this position provides front line housing focused assertive street outreach to youth and adults who are experiencing homelessness, at risk of homelessness, and those living in poverty. The Re.

Connect Dispatch Outreach staff provides a range of services to decrease barriers to obtaining appropriate housing. These include assessments, service planning, skills teaching, resource identification, and follow-up. This role requires a strong understanding in the YMCA mission, vision, and core values. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES YMCA Standards and Policies: Follow all YMCA policies, including the YMCA Community Outreach Code of Conduct and Child Safeguarding Policies.

Adherence to the YMCA Occupational Health & Safety Policy and accountable to work safely at all times, to identify and report hazards, to take whatever measures necessary and reasonable in the circumstances, to protect and promote health and safety. Support departmental philanthropic initiatives, such as Battle of the Brains and other fundraising or awareness events. Promote and uphold the YMCA’s core values of inclusiveness, integrity, and fun in all interactions and service delivery. Outreach and Case Management: Conduct assertive street outreach and in-reach across the Greater Moncton Area, with frequent walking and outdoor engagement in varying weather conditions.

Provide trauma-informed, person-centered, and harm reduction-based supports to individuals experiencing homelessness or housing precarity. Support members in identifying personal goals and pathways forward, while offering skill-building and resource navigation where appropriate. Respond to YRAD dispatch calls promptly and complete required follow-up documentation using Microsoft Forms.

When not responding to calls or completing administrative tasks, engage in proactive outreach activities, including wellness checks, safety planning, and community presence. Provide referrals to appropriate community services (e.g., NB Housing, Income Assistance, Mental Health & Addiction Services). Accompany members to appointments or safe locations when appropriate, and advocate on their behalf to reduce systemic barriers to services.

Maintain awareness of local housing, health, and social service resources to support timely and accurate service navigation. Support crisis de-escalation and stabilization, prioritizing member dignity and safety at all times. Collaboration and Networking: Actively participate in Moncton’s Coordinated Access system and support Reaching Home directives and community strategies.

Build and maintain strong working relationships with community partners, including local shelters, health services, government agencies, and advocacy organizations. Represent the YMCA and its outreach programs in a professional and respectful manner in all external interactions and collaborations. Data Management and Reporting: Utilize HIFIS to maintain accurate, timely, and complete client records, including intake forms, service notes, assessments, and case plans.

Track referrals, outcomes, and follow-ups in accordance with program standards and funder expectations. Ensure secure storage, logging, and handling of sensitive documents such as ID, mail, and tax-related paperwork. Uphold strict standards of privacy, confidentiality, and data protection in all case documentation and information sharing.

Contribute to program monitoring and evaluation through accurate data entry and participation in quarterly and annual reporting processes. Professional Development: Participate in ongoing training related to housing-focused outreach, harm reduction, trauma-informed care, mental health, and crisis response. Attend regular team meetings, case debriefings, and supervision to support continuous learning and alignment.

Engage in reflective practice and commit to personal and professional growth in alignment with YMCA values and service principles. Other Responsibilities: Other duties as assigned. Collaborate with other YMCA Community Outreach programs to ensure coordinated support and continuity of care for members. Contribute to a positive and inclusive team environment through respectful communication, shared responsibilities, and a solution-focused approach.

Perform other duties as assigned to support the delivery and development of outreach services. QUALIFICATIONS

Completion of post-secondary education in Social Service Work, Community Support, Human Services, or a related field; equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will also be considered. Standard First Aid and CPR Level C (or Basic Rescuer CPR) certification required. Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening is required as a condition of employment.

Social Development Record Check may be required depending on program placement. Bilingualism (French and English) is considered an asset. Valid driver’s license and clear driver’s abstract are considered strong assets. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and variable hours as needed. Lived experience related to homelessness, substance use, or systemic barriers is valued and welcomed in this role.

REQUIREMENT This position shall not, for the duration of their employment, maintain any interests directly or indirectly, as an employee, or act in any other capacity, for any other organization that conducts business which may be perceived as similar to, or in competition with, The YMCA of Greater Moncton’s business, without obtaining prior permission from the YMCA Department VP or Director.
