Building Engineer-Commercial RE
Job description
We are a full-service commercial real estate firm headquartered in uptown Charlotte, with offices in the Carolinas and Atlanta, GA. Our team of real estate professionals, with an entrepreneurial spirit and deep roots, works together to create success for our clients. We are seeking a Building Engineer II to join our Atlanta team.
The ideal candidate will ensure our owners and tenants are provided with the highest level of client service.
Responsibilities
Assist with the inspection of all building systems, including fire/life safety, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical issues; must remain current with the latest HVAC technology trends. Respond quickly to emergencies, including fire, evacuation, equipment failure, and customer concerns. Communicate effectively and frequently with the Property Manager and Tenant Services Coordinator on all significant operational and engineering-related issues.
Conduct daily tours of the premises to identify any building problems and inspect all mechanical equipment. Work closely with contractors and vendors to ensure work is performed according to property guidelines. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Computer literacy for record-keeping and work order systems.
Ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical, plumbing, HVAC, door hardware, and basic construction principles. Ability to read, understand, and utilize wiring diagrams, schematics, drawings, and blueprints. Ability to understand systems and perform operations in a commercial office or industrial building. Ability to work with little or no supervision in a team environment.
Proficient in the use of hand and small power tools. Ability and willingness to work safely in all weather conditions. Ability to perform on-call duties as required. Ability to display a professional image and attitude. Handle other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum of two years of experience in commercial building maintenance. High School diploma or GED equivalent. Ability to multitask, interact with tenants and vendors, and excellent understanding of building systems. Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills are required. Valid driver's license required.
Physical requirements include stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs, ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
