8th Grade & High School Musical Director Extracurricular / After-School Position Location: Whitko Junior Senior High School Reports To: Building Principal Position Type: Supplemental / Extracurricular Compensation: Per Board-approved extracurricular stipend Position Summary Whitko Community Schools is seeking a creative, organized, and enthusiastic High School Musical Director to lead and oversee the school's annual musical production.

The Musical Director is responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing all aspects of the production while providing students with a positive, educational, and engaging performing arts experience. This position requires a commitment to working with students outside the regular school day, including afternoons, evenings, and occasional weekends.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, effective communication, organizational skills, and a passion for developing student talent in the performing arts.

Essential Duties

and Responsi bilities Select an age-appropriate musical in collaboration with and subject to approval by school administration. Develop and maintain a comprehensive production schedule, including auditions, rehearsals, technical preparations, and performances. Establish a production timeline that allows adequate preparation while considering students' academic and extracurricular commitments.

Coordinate performance licensing, scripts, music, and other necessary production materials. Develop and manage the musical's budget in accordance with district procedures and available funding. Organize and conduct auditions in a fair, transparent, and professional manner. Provide opportunities for students to participate in performance, stage crew, technical production, and other supporting roles.

Provide artistic direction for acting, character development, staging, and overall performance quality. Collaborate with musical, vocal, choreography, and technical personnel as available. Maintain appropriate supervision of students during all rehearsals, performances, and musical-related activities. Serve as the primary point of contact for students, parents, staff, and administration regarding the musical production.

The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substances abuse in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the corporation Coordinate ticketing, publicity, programs, and other production-related activities as assigned. Maintain accurate financial records and submit all receipts, purchases, and revenue documentation in accordance with district procedures.

Qualifications

Experience in musical theater, performing arts, education, or directing theatrical productions. Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills. Ability to work effectively with high school students of varying abilities and experience levels. Ability to manage multiple responsibilities, deadlines, and production needs.

Willingness and availability to work after school, evenings, and occasional weekends. Ability to meet district background check and employment requirements. Time Commitment The Musical Director is expected to fulfill all responsibilities necessary for a successful production, including: Pre-production planning and preparation.

Auditions and casting. Regular after-school rehearsals. Evening and weekend rehearsals as necessary. Technical and dress rehearsals. All scheduled public performances. Post-production cleanup, inventory, and reporting. Additional Expectations The Musical Director serves as a representative of Whitko Community Schools and is expected to demonstrate professionalism, sound judgment, and a commitment to the district's mission and values.

The director must receive administrative approval before making significant financial commitments, modifying performance schedules, or entering into agreements on behalf of the district.
