Job description

Director of Communication & Community Engagement Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Conejo Valley Westlake Village, CA 91361 Full-Time, Exempt

  • On-Site Salary Range: $85,000 – $100,000 annually Tell the story that changes kids' futures. Every day, young people in our Clubs find a safe place to belong, mentors who believe in them, and opportunities that open doors. We're looking for a strategic, creative leader to make sure our whole community sees that impact and wants to be part of it. Resource development is only the start. This role lets you shape so much more! As Director of Communication & Community Engagement, you will be the voice of our agency and the person who connects people to it. You'll shape how the community sees our brand. You'll turn program results into stories that move people. You'll lead the events that bring supporters together, and you'll build lasting relationships with donors, board members, and corporate partners. Fundraising success follows from this work, but the job is about leadership, storytelling, and engagement across the whole agency. Reporting directly to the President/CEO, you'll work closely with our Programs team and Club staff. You'll be on the ground at events, meetings, and Club sites throughout the community, where the impact happens. What You'll Lead Brand, Marketing & Public Relations: Own agencywide marketing, communications, and PR, including the donor newsletter, Club newsletters, campaign collateral, and our website. Keep our message clear, consistent, and compelling. Signature Events: Plan and run events that build community, including our Youth of the Year Celebration and annual Gala, while supporting volunteer committees and the Annual Fund Committee. Donor, Board & Corporate Engagement: Strengthen relationships with donors and board members and develop corporate partnerships through volunteer and sponsorship opportunities. Impact Storytelling: Work with Programs and Club staff to gather highlights and data, and lead production of our annual report. Grant Management: Oversee grant quality, reporting, and deadlines so our funders see the results of their investment. Vendors & Budget: Manage the department budget and our creative partners, including our videographer, marketing firm, and social media consultant.

Who You Are

You have at least five years of progressively responsible experience in communications, marketing, development, or public relations, ideally in a nonprofit setting, with a proven track record of successful campaigns, events, and stakeholder relationships. You're detail-oriented. You catch the typo before it goes to print, keep grant deadlines on track, and make sure every event runs smoothly.

You're a strong writer and natural relationship-builder, equally comfortable with a donor, a board member, a corporate partner, or a Club kid. You have led vendors, budgets, and cross-functional projects, and you bring strategy and follow-through. You're comfortable with Microsoft Office, website content management systems, donor/CRM databases, email marketing, and social media.

You're energized by being out in the community and available for occasional evenings, weekends, and events. A bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, PR, nonprofit management, or a related field is preferred.
