Applications Scientist

JOB TITLE: Applications Scientist REPORTS TO: Director of Product Development Revised 1/16/2026 LOCATION: Vista, CA JOB SUMMARY: The Applications Scientist will play a key role in supporting the development and optimization of Vibrant Ingredients natural solutions. This individual will work closely with R&D, sales, and customers to develop applications, conduct research, and provide technical expertise to enhance the functionality of our products across various food and beverage categories.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and optimize formulations using Vibrant’s natural ingredients for various food and beverage applications. Conduct product evaluations, stability testing, and sensory analysis to ensure optimal performance. Collaborate with customers to understand their needs, provide technical support, and develop customized solutions.

Work cross-functionally with R&D, sales, and marketing teams to support product development initiatives. Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements in the food and beverage sector. Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation to communicate findings and recommendations.

Assist in troubleshooting and problem-solving related to ingredient performance in different applications.

Qualifications

& Experience Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field. 3+ years of experience in food and beverage applications, product development, or ingredient formulation. Strong understanding of food chemistry, ingredient interactions, and processing techniques. Experience with plant-based, clean-label, or natural ingredient solutions is a plus.

Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency in laboratory techniques, analytical testing, and sensory evaluation. Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods and perform manual tasks such as weighing ingredients and operating laboratory equipment.
