Job description
Reports to: Vice President of Retail Remote- Northeast Summary The Regional Director is responsible for the sales growth, profitability, talent development, and customer experience of an assigned region of retail stores. This leader develops high-performing Store Managers and, where assigned, Zone Managers, and holds them accountable for delivering sustainable results and consistent execution of company strategy.
The Regional Director translates company priorities into regional business plans, identifies opportunities across stores and markets, and partners across the business to address barriers to performance. Success is measured by profitable growth, leadership capability, customer growth, and consistent store execution. The ideal candidate is an experienced multi-unit retail leader who combines strategic thinking with effective field leadership, sound financial judgment, and a proven ability to develop leaders who deliver results.
Responsibilities
Leadership and Talent Development Recruit, select, onboard, coach, and develop high-performing Store Managers and, where assigned, Zone Managers. Set clear expectations and hold leaders accountable for business results, talent development, and store execution. Strengthen leaders’ ability to analyze their business, make effective decisions, develop their teams, and follow through on commitments.
Lead talent reviews, succession planning, and development plans to build a pipeline of future store and multi-unit leaders. Partner with Human Resources to address performance concerns promptly and improve leadership retention and staffing readiness. Create a culture of accountability, ownership, continuous learning, and collaboration while demonstrating Tandy’s mission and mindset.
Regional Strategy and Sales Growth Develop and execute regional business plans aligned with company sales, profitability, and customer growth objectives. Identify opportunities across stores and markets, prioritize actions, and direct time and resources where they will have the greatest impact. Grow retail and commercial sales through customer acquisition, retention, local business development, and commercial relationships.
Hold leaders accountable for effective classes, events, outreach, community partnerships, and loyalty program execution. Lead improvement plans for underperforming stores, with clear ownership, timing, measurable outcomes, and regular follow-through. Financial Accountability and Business Performance Own regional sales and operating income results, balancing growth with effective management of payroll, expenses, and inventory loss.
Partner with Finance and the Vice President of Retail on annual budgets, forecasts, and plans to improve regional performance. Analyze store and regional profit and loss statements, scorecards, and business trends to identify performance gaps and their underlying causes. Conduct regular business reviews that connect results to specific actions and evaluate whether those actions are improving performance.
Build financial acumen within the leadership team and ensure staffing and expense decisions support customer experience, productivity, and profitability. Recommend store investments and other business actions based on customer needs, store condition, and expected business impact. Customer Experience and Brand Execution Ensure stores deliver consistent, engaging customer experiences that make leathercraft approachable and build long-term customer relationships.
Hold leaders accountable for merchandising, visual presentation, store condition, and brand standards. Evaluate the quality and effectiveness of classes, customer events, and outreach, and coach leaders to improve execution and customer participation. Ensure stores effectively connect customers with in-store and online shopping options, including loyalty, pickup, and fulfillment programs.
Resolve escalated customer concerns with urgency and use recurring feedback to improve the customer experience. Retail Operations and Field Execution Ensure consistent execution of company standards, policies, and initiatives across the region. Plan purposeful store visits based on business and talent needs, focusing on leadership development, customer experience, and performance improvement.
Where Zone Managers are assigned, evaluate their coaching, visit priorities, business plans, and follow-through to ensure they develop Store Managers and improve results. Hold leaders accountable for inventory accuracy, receiving, counts, loss prevention, and safe, organized operating environments. Partner with Retail Operations and other corporate teams to resolve issues that affect store performance and identify opportunities to simplify store work.
