Job Functions General Responsibilities Residents Rights Safety Staff Development Food Preparation/Production Responsibilities Reviews menus, production and prep guides to determine type and quantities of food to be prepared.’ Prepares all meal items according to planned menus and standardized recipes in a sanitary manner to ensure the utmost in quality with a minimum of waste.

Uses nutritionally equivalent substitutes when required. Operates a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment, such as blender, mixer, fryer, slicer, steamer, food processor, convection oven, stove, conventional oven, steam table and tilt skillet. Wash, peel, cut, and shreds vegetables and fruits to prepare for use. Tests and observes food by tasting for palatability. Slices portions of meat for individual servings. Follows recipes. Add gravies, sauces, and garnishes as required. Prepares and assists with special function meals. Completes work assignments. Ability to read and write, required. Experience One to two years as cook in a large scale cooking operation, preferred.
