Responsibilities

Manage existing data resources and introduce technologies and tooling that advance data warehousing, science, analytics, and scalable data sharing. Own data environments (e.g., data warehouse and data-sharing platforms), with the capacity to contribute hands-on development when needed. Oversee the design of data usage processes that support teams across the organization.

Gather and clarify requirements through direct engagement with business, science, and software development stakeholders. Define and uphold Data Warehousing Engineering Standards & Practices covering versioning, readability, functionality, extensibility, data quality, test results, deployment, post-deployment, and hypercare.

Lead system knowledge management, as well as team resourcing, performance management, and capacity management (e.g., hiring, onboarding/bootcamps, career development, KPI monitoring). Ensure data domain quality and reliability, including uptime for automation jobs and data pipelines. Enforce data security practices across pipelines.

Manage data and report migration activities as required. Deliverables / Outcomes Quality, reliable, and timely data for end users Data warehousing platform uptime Project and BAU delivery for the team Documented Data Warehousing Engineering Standards & Practices System knowledge management Documentation for team resourcing, performance management, and capacity management Qualifications 5+ years of demonstrated strength in SQL, data modeling, ETL development, and data warehousing 5+ years maintaining data warehouses and performing large-scale data transformation using EMR, Hadoop, Hive, or comparable big data technologies Experience mentoring and managing data engineers Experience with hardware provisioning, capacity forecasting, and budget management Proven ability to communicate outcomes in writing and to engage effectively with both business and technical audiences Track record of leading, managing, and hiring strong engineering talent Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.
