Job Title: Field Operator II – Compressor Operator Compensation: $47.40/hr ½- or ¾-ton agency vehicle provided Business Line will provide tools Location: Tilden, TX Schedule: 5/2, 40 hours per week with overtime; possible on-call work Target Start Date: ASAP Tentative End Date: One year from starting Scope: Level II Compressor Station Operator responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient operation of natural gas compression equipment.
Monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain compressor station systems to ensure optimal run time and reliability. Operations & Monitoring Operate and monitor natural gas compressors, dehydration units, and associated equipment. Adjust operating parameters to maintain optimal pressure, flow, and efficiency. Conduct routine inspections and record equipment readings to detect irregularities.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting Perform minor maintenance and assist with repairs on compressors, engines, and auxiliary systems. Identify mechanical or process issues and escalate as necessary to maintenance personnel. Assist in troubleshooting electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic control systems. Safety & Compliance Follow all company safety policies.
Daily Reporting Maintain accurate logs of operating data, maintenance activities, and safety checks. Report equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, or operational deviations. Utilize digital tools and systems for data entry and reporting.
Qualifications
Required Experience Must have at least 10 years of natural gas compressor experience. Familiarity with rotating equipment, instrumentation, and process controls. Preferred Experience Instrument air compressor experience.
Education
& Certifications High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training preferred. Certifications such as OSHA 10/30, H2S Awareness, First Aid/CPR, or DOT Operator Qualification (OQ) are a plus. Skills & Competencies Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Ability to read P&IDs, schematics, and technical manuals.
Knowledge of HMI systems and control room operations is a plus. Good verbal and written communication skills. Work Environment & Physical Requirements Rotating shift work, weekends, and holidays as needed. Ability to work in varying weather conditions and remote locations. Frequent lifting up to 50 lbs., climbing, bending, and standing for extended periods.
Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. The assignment-specific requirement of 10 years of natural gas compressor experience supersedes the general scope’s 2–5-year experience language.
