JOB OVERVIEW The Team Photographer is a part-time, seasonal role responsible for capturing professional game-action, player, and fan photography at Colorado Eagles home games in the American Hockey League (AHL). Working with the video production, game presentation, and marketing teams under the direction of the Vice President, Video Production, this position produces timely, high-quality images for the team website, social media, sponsors, video board, and media partners, consistent with AHL credential standards and the Colorado Eagles brand.
Photographers work all assigned preseason, regular season, and postseason Colorado Eagles home games, along with scheduled team events. Essential Job Functions:
- Photograph game action, goals, celebrations, saves, and key moments from approved ice-level and elevated shooting positions.
- Capture pre-game warmups, player introductions, ceremonies, theme nights, and special presentations.
- Photograph fans, sponsor activations, promotions, and in-arena entertainment for marketing and sponsor fulfillment.
- Deliver selected in-game images to the social media team during the game on the timeline set by the supervisor.
- Edit, caption, and deliver a complete post-game gallery within the agreed turnaround time, using correct player names and numbers.
- Organize, tag, and upload all images to the team’s designated storage or asset system after each game.
- Follow AHL and arena credential rules, assigned shooting locations, and restrictions on flash and access areas.
- Coordinate with the game presentation crew, PA Announcer, In-Arena Host, and communications staff on shot lists and priorities.
- Photograph scheduled team events such as headshots, media days, community appearances, and sponsor events as assigned.
- Arrive at the time set by the supervisor, typically 1.5 to 2 hours before puck drop, and confirm equipment is ready.
- Understand that all images produced in this role are the property of the Colorado Eagles and may not be sold, licensed, or posted personally without written approval.
- Represent the Colorado Eagles professionally at all times, including in public areas, in restricted areas, and on social media.
- Attend required preseason and in-season rehearsals and training sessions.
- Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Vice President, Video Production or other management.
- Other duties as assigned Job Requirements:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Demonstrated experience in sports, action, or live-event photography; a portfolio is required as part of the hiring process
- Strong skill shooting fast action in low and mixed indoor lighting
- Proficiency with photo editing and management software such as Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop
- Ability to meet tight in-game and post-game delivery deadlines
- Working knowledge of hockey and the ability to anticipate key plays
- Access to professional-grade camera bodies, lenses, and memory cards suited to indoor sports photography
- Availability for evening, weekend, and holiday home games throughout the season
- Reliable transportation to the arena
- Prior professional, collegiate, or minor-league sports photography experience preferred Arena Environment:
- The primary physical environment in which this position works is an indoor ice arena, at ice level, in the seating areas, and in elevated shooting positions, with exposure to cold temperatures, high crowd noise, and amplified sound.
- The position requires standing, kneeling, and walking for extended periods, climbing stairs, and carrying camera equipment weighing up to 30 pounds.
- Ice-level shooting positions are close to active play, where pucks and players may make contact with the glass or shooting area.
- Game shifts typically run 4 to 6 hours, including pre-game shooting and post-game editing; overtime and shootouts extend the shift. Shift type: Part-Time, Seasonal, Evenings, Weekends and Holidays Pay: $37.50 per hour.
Benefits
This part-time position is not eligible for medical, dental, life insurance, or paid time off. Photographers earn Colorado paid sick leave at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked.
