Visiting Instructor, Core Liberal Arts & Sciences

Huntington, IN, United StatesPosted Oct 23, 2026

Job description

Huntington University has an opening for a full-time Visiting Instructor to teach broadly across our Core4 interdisciplinary curriculum and Forester Foundations general education courses. This is a three-year, grant-funded teaching position running from January 2027 through December 2029. Teaching and meeting with students are the heart of this position.

However, this role also requires a successful candidate to be involved in the life of the mind across campus, engaging with both Academic Affairs and Student Life. The position carries no committee assignments and no advising responsibilities within a major, so the person who takes it can give full attention to the classroom and on-campus student experience.

Mission Alignment Huntington University's Forester Foundations curriculum asks every core course to help students analyze their subject matter from a Christian perspective. A faculty generalist in this role brings that same faith integration to whatever discipline they're teaching that semester, whether it's a Core4 course built around belonging, creativity, discovery, or flourishing, or a general education course.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must have a strong personal Christian commitment and faith in Jesus Christ and a desire to serve others. Must be committed to the mission of Huntington University as a comprehensive Christian College dedicated to educating men and women to impact our world for Christ. Demonstrated understanding of Christian higher education and commitment to faith integration in teaching.

Master's degree required; earned doctorate (Ph.D.) preferred. Demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching, ideally including experience in general education, interdisciplinary, or first-year seminar contexts. Comfort and versatility teaching across disciplines, since this role moves between Core4 and general education coursework rather than staying within a single department.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a genuine interest in mentoring students outside of the classroom. Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff across multiple departments and programs. Work Schedule: This is a full-time, 9-month tenure track exempt faculty position. General Information: Huntington University is an independent, Christian liberal arts university.

Employees of Huntington University subscribe to the Statement of Faith that is identical to that of the National Association of Evangelicals. Statement of Faith To Apply: Review the full job description attached for a complete list of responsibilities and qualifications. Apply via ADP, using your personal email, and upload a cover letter, resume and list of references with your completed application.

Questions can be emailed to Andy Mc. Kee, Director of Human Resources.
