Reports To: Estimating Manager

Location: Corporate Office: 303 W Elliott Rd, Ste. 101, Tempe, AZ 85284 - occasional travel to job sites for review or job walks

Compensation: $56,000 - $85,000 annual salary, based on skills, experience, performance, and ongoing training attendance

POSITION SUMMARY

The Plumbing/HVAC Estimator II is responsible for developing accurate, competitive, and profitable estimates that support the award of $6-10 million in annual contracted work. This role independently manages bids while collaborating closely with Business Development and Operations to ensure scope clarity, risk alignment, and a seamless transition from estimate to execution. Beyond estimating, this position contributes to the company's long-term growth strategy by supporting consistent margins, disciplined pursuit decisions, and scalable estimating processes.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Estimating & Bid Management

• Prepare detailed Plumbing/HVAC estimates including labor, material, equipment, subcontractors, and general conditions.

• Develop and deliver accurate, timely estimates while keeping stakeholders abreast of status.

• Independently manage assigned bids from opportunity review through final proposal submission.

Scope & Risk Analysis

• Analyze drawings, specifications, and addenda to ensure complete and executable scope coverage.

• Identify project risks, constructability challenges, and value-engineering opportunities.

• Apply company estimating standards, historical data, and pricing strategies.

Vendor & Subcontractor Coordination

• Solicit, evaluate, and level vendor and subcontractor pricing.

Collaboration & Turnover

• Collaborate with sales and operations to align pricing, risk, and execution plans.

• Participate in scope reviews and turnover meetings to support strong project starts.

Documentation & Process Improvement

• Maintain organized estimate documentation for awarded and lost work.

• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 3-7 years of commercial Plumbing/HVAC estimating experience.

• Demonstrated ability to independently support $6-10M in annual awarded work.

• Strong technical understanding of HVAC systems and construction means and methods.

• Experience with estimating and takeoff software (FastDUCT, FastPIPE, Bluebeam, Bidtracer, etc.).

• Visionary mindset - able to think beyond the current bid and understand long-term impact.

• Self-motivated and accountable, with a strong sense of ownership.

• Thrives in a team-oriented culture focused on operational excellence and continuous improvement.

• Strong communication, organization, and analytical skills.

• Leadership experience a plus.
