Head Chef | Runaway Bay Tavern

Lead from the front. Build a great team. Make your mark. Runaway Bay Tavern is looking for an experienced, hands-on Head Chef to lead our kitchen team at our newly renovated venue on the Gold Coast. This is a great opportunity for a strong leader who enjoys a busy pub environment, takes pride in their food and knows how to balance great service with strong kitchen performance.

About the role

You’ll take ownership of day-to-day kitchen operations, leading by example and responding quickly to customer demand and weekly trading needs. You’ll need to be commercially minded, organised and ready to get hands-on when things get busy.

Your responsibilities

Leading, training and developing the kitchen team Being hands-on during service and setting the standard for the team Managing labour costs and rostering Responding quickly to customer demand and weekly trading needs Managing food costs, ordering, stock control and wastage Maintaining food quality, presentation and consistency Ensuring food safety, hygiene and kitchen standards are maintained Creating a positive team culture built on accountability, teamwork and a can-do attitude What we’re looking for 4+ years’ experience as a Head Chef in a busy kitchen Strong leadership skills and a hands-on approach Experience managing labour and food costs A can-do attitude and the ability to think on your feet Someone reliable who leads by example and brings out the best in their team Why join us?
