Teaching Assistant for Crisis Intervention

Anticipated: Teaching Assistant for Crisis Intervention GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB : The Teaching Assistant (TA) for Crisis Intervention provides instructional, and experiential support focused on trauma, mental health emergencies, and de-escalation. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

• Full-time, 10-month, tenure track assignment.

• Full complement of health benefits REPORTS TO: Principal SUPERVISES : N/A QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES :
• A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in an educationally related field.
• Completion of Crisis Intervention training as a Crisis Intervention Worker. Completion of Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training through the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) as a Crisis Intervention Trainer is desirable.
• A minimum of three-years' experience working directly with students in an educational setting or equivalent.
• Possession of skills, knowledge, attitude and confidence to effectively work with students in crisis, to be in control in a crisis situation, to help students learn and grow from the experience, and to respond to both feelings as well as outward behavior of a student in crisis. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Working with individual students on special instructional projects including, but not limited to, life space interviews and anger replacement strategies, does related teaching assistant work as required.
• Providing the teacher with information about students which will assist the teacher in the development of appropriate learning experiences.
• Utilizing their own special skills and abilities by assisting in instructional programs and behavior management through assisting in the management of disruptive, assaultive and out of control student behavior by employing therapeutic physical intervention strategies as needed.
• Does related teaching assistant work as required. EVALUATION : Principal. SALARY : $46,958 - $54,905 in accordance with the BOCES Faculty Agreement Contract, experience, and education.
