POSITION SUMMARY
Gold Star Foods is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Inventory Control Clerk to join our warehouse operations team in Pendergrass, GA! Are you organized, analytical, and experienced in warehouse inventory management, cycle counting, inventory reconciliation, and distribution operations ? As an Inventory Control Clerk, you'll play a critical role in maintaining accurate inventory records, supporting efficient warehouse operations, and ensuring products are properly received, stored, tracked, and distributed.
This position works closely with the Inventory Control Supervisor, warehouse leadership, receiving teams, and transportation personnel to investigate inventory discrepancies, conduct audits, process product returns, and maintain inventory integrity. 00 per hour Job Type: Hourly Location: Pendergrass, GA Department: Warehouse Operations / Inventory Control Reports To: Inventory Control Supervisor Work Environment: Warehouse, refrigerated, frozen, and dry storage areas Overtime: Flexibility to work additional hours based on operational needs ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Inventory Accuracy & Cycle Counting Perform scheduled and routine inventory cycle counts, physical inventory counts, and bin location audits to maintain accurate inventory records.
Investigate, research, and resolve inventory discrepancies, negative inventory balances, and stock variances in collaboration with the Inventory Control Supervisor. Maintain accurate inventory records through manual documentation and electronic inventory management systems. Monitor and maintain established cycle count schedules, inventory adjustments, and warehouse location accuracy.
Research and correct invalid pallet IDs, duplicate pick locations, and inventory location discrepancies. Support inventory reconciliation and assist with identifying opportunities to improve inventory accuracy and reduce shrink. Generate and review reports related to inventory variances, stock levels, product movement, and inventory adjustments.
Receiving, Shipping & Product Returns Verify inbound and outbound shipments against purchase orders, invoices, receiving documents, and shipping records . Conduct daily purchase order (PO) audits to ensure inventory transactions are accurate and properly documented. Check in delivery drivers, verify paperwork, and coordinate appropriate product placement and receiving procedures.
Process product returns, complete return put-aways, and ensure returned merchandise is accurately recorded and stored. Research product shortages, overages, and products reported as not loaded or delivered. Assist with inventory requests from purchasing teams, K12 Solutions, and other departments. Support receiving and shipping operations by ensuring accurate product identification, labeling, and documentation.
Food Safety, Quality & Inventory Rotation Monitor product rotation using FIFO (First In, First Out) and FEFO (First Expired, First Out) inventory practices. Inspect incoming and stored products for quality, temperature compliance, expiration dates, labeling, and product integrity . Ensure proper storage and handling of products in dry, refrigerated, and frozen warehouse environments .
Identify, document, and properly handle damaged, expired, contaminated, or unsellable products according to company procedures. Assist with product recalls by accurately identifying, locating, and isolating affected inventory. Support product damage recovery, inventory adjustments, and approved donation coordination. Follow established food safety, sanitation, warehouse security, and inventory control procedures .
Warehouse Operations & Equipment Safely operate warehouse material handling equipment (MHE) , including forklifts, order pickers, and electric or manual pallet jacks, as trained and authorized. Assist with assigning new pick locations, correcting duplicate pick bins, and maintaining organized inventory storage areas. Maintain clean, organized, and secure dock, receiving, and warehouse storage areas.
Collaborate with warehouse operations, receiving, shipping, purchasing, and transportation teams to resolve inventory-related issues. Follow company safety policies and established warehouse operating procedures. Support additional warehouse and inventory control responsibilities as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
& REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or GED required. Minimum 2 years of warehouse inventory control, inventory administration, or distribution center experience . Experience performing cycle counts, inventory audits, stock reconciliation, and inventory discrepancy research . Ability to operate or learn to operate forklifts, order pickers, and pallet jacks safely.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office , particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook. Strong mathematical skills and ability to accurately calculate quantities, verify counts, and identify discrepancies. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and accuracy in recordkeeping. Ability to manage daily responsibilities independently while meeting established deadlines.
Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced warehouse environment. Willingness to learn new systems, procedures, and inventory processes. Ability to work in refrigerated and freezer environments for extended periods. Company-provided cold-weather gear is available.
Flexibility to work overtime as required by operational needs. Ability to follow all company safety, food handling, and warehouse procedures.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), inventory management software, or ERP systems . Previous experience in foodservice distribution, grocery warehousing, cold storage, or refrigerated distribution centers . Knowledge of FIFO/FEFO inventory rotation, lot tracking, expiration date management, and product traceability .
Experience with RF scanners, barcode scanning, electronic inventory transactions, and inventory reporting . Familiarity with purchase order reconciliation, product returns, and inventory adjustments. Previous forklift, order picker, or electric pallet jack experience. Understanding of food safety standards and warehouse quality control practices.
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position operates in a fast-paced foodservice distribution environment that includes warehouse, dock, refrigerated, frozen, and office areas. Ability to work in environments with varying temperatures, including refrigerated and freezer storage areas. Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout the warehouse for extended periods.
Ability to lift and move products or materials weighing up to 50 pounds occasionally , using proper lifting techniques and available equipment. Ability to operate material handling equipment safely after completing required training and authorization. Ability to perform computer-based inventory transactions and administrative tasks.
Exposure to warehouse equipment, moving vehicles, and typical distribution center noise levels. Ability to maintain attention to detail while completing repetitive inventory and counting tasks.
