Service Technician
Job description
Primary Purpose: Provide customer field service globally; gain a thorough understanding of the functionality of and actively service Burr Oak Tool product lines, as needed. Roles: Expected behaviors and activities performed to fulfill responsibilities Practice and encourage the best safety practices resulting in zero lost time within department.
Implement and practice effective 5S and participate in regular team 5S audits. Set an example of working hard and doing the right things, exhibit energy and positivity. Accountable to work independently; observe and recommend procedures to achieve impactful results. Solve semi-routine issues utilizing problem solving analysis and prioritizing processes and routines.
Understand and achieve Reasonable Expectations (REs) for current position and responsibilities (excellent productivity and quality) and participate in regular team process audits. Engage in clear, courteous, effective, honest, and open communications with team members and others within and outside the company. Develop and seek positive relationships; actively participate in regular huddles and goal setting.
Responsibilities
Quantifiable metrics to which a person is held accountable Arrive at work and position consistently on time; remain present and engaged the entire assigned shift. Able to observe and develop workable solutions in a variety of situations and perform root cause analysis. Accept responsibility for consistently excellent productivity and quality.
Participate in regular employee reviews including setting and achieving goals. Learn and understand the functionality of multiple Burr Oak Tool machines and product lines, as needed or assigned. Troubleshoot machines, parts, and equipment including electric, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems and HMI controller. Modify programs to facilitate correct operation of machines.
Learn to Program machine to perform specified tasks applying program logic controller (PLC) knowledge. Order replacement parts and document issues with machines based on diagnostics in a timely manner using a field service report. Review work orders and service reports to determine tasks to be performed; determine tools, equipment, and parts needed for installation or repair assignment.
Discuss situation with customer’s representative and inspect site to verify that components are installed according to specifications. Skills: Essential qualifications and functions gained through training and experience Must possess or obtain forklift license and learn to operate cranes and man-lifts. Must have proficient math skills and ability to utilize various measurement tools.
Must be willing to travel internationally. Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to get along with and influence diverse personalities; tactful, mature, and flexible. Ability to remain calm and determined to attain goals. High energy level, comfortable performing multi-faceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities.
Documentation of a current drug screen must be provided prior to start date.
