Preconstruction Estimator - Water/Wastewater Treatment (Collaborative Delivery)

Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Preconstruction Estimator to join our estimating team, focusing on water and wastewater treatment plant (WTP/WWTP) projects. This role supports collaborative delivery methods—such as Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR), Design-Build (DB), and Progressive Design-Build (PDB)—where early contractor involvement and teamwork with design partners and owners are key to success.
The ideal candidate brings a strong technical foundation in civil or process mechanical construction, analytical problem-solving skills, and a collaborative mindset. You’ll play a key role in developing accurate estimates, evaluating design alternatives, and shaping projects that improve water infrastructure across our communities.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare conceptual and detailed cost estimates at various design stages (10%, 30%, 60%, 90%). Perform quantity takeoffs for civil, structural, mechanical, and process disciplines. Solicit, analyze, and scope subcontractor and vendor proposals to ensure accuracy and coverage. Collaborate with design partners to align design development with cost and constructability considerations.
Support the development of pricing models, cost summaries, and GMP or target price proposals. Participate in design and value engineering sessions, providing cost-driven feedback. Assist with client presentations and internal preconstruction deliverables.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil/Environmental Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience). 3–8 years of estimating or project management experience, preferably in water/wastewater treatment. Experience in collaborative delivery projects (CMAR, DB, or PDB) strongly preferred. Proficiency with estimating tools such as In.
Eight; strong Excel and quantity takeoff skills. Familiarity with Bluebeam, Revit, or Navisworks a plus. Understanding of treatment process systems, mechanical/electrical components, and construction sequencing. Preferred Attributes Collaborative and team-oriented approach to problem-solving. Strong communication and organizational skills.
