Café Assistant & Cashier

About the Role

The Café Assistant & Cashier plays a vital role in delivering exceptional customer service within a healthcare and social assistance environment. This position is responsible for managing daily café operations, ensuring a welcoming and hygienic atmosphere for members, visitors, and staff. The role requires handling cash transactions accurately and efficiently while maintaining compliance with health and safety standards.

The Café Assistant & Cashier will collaborate closely with kitchen and service staff to provide timely food and beverage service that meets dietary and nutritional guidelines. Ultimately, this role contributes to a positive experience for all café patrons, supporting the overall mission of the healthcare facility.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in a customer service or food service role. Basic calculation experience and handling cash transactions. Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards. Ability to stand for extended periods and perform light physical tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

Associate's degree or equivalent. Experience working in a healthcare or social assistance environment. Certification in food handling or safety (e.g., ServSafe). Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems. Ability to work effectively in a team. Multilingual abilities to assist a diverse customer base.

Responsibilities

Deliver excellent customer service by greeting guests warmly, processing transactions accurately, and addressing inquiries or concerns professionally. Prepare and serve food and beverages in accordance with established health, safety, and hygiene standards. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the café area, including dining spaces, counters, and equipment.

Support inventory management by restocking supplies and promptly reporting shortages or issues to management. Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient café operations and a positive customer experience within the healthcare facility.
