Maintenance Lead
Job description
Job Description: The Maintenance Leader is responsible for providing leadership in technology development and reliability, project management and daily technical support of operations to maximize a competitive advantage for our products and drive innovation. The Maintenance Leader is also responsible for managing and improving on shift equipment downtime, execution of permanent repairs and preventative maintenance in an area of ownership within the business using class leading Maintenance excellence systems and becoming fluent in Mars signature systems such as Mars Supply Excellence (MSE).
Key Responsibilities
Preventative Maintenance Program Overall ownership of PM management and the utilization of the PM system for assigned area. Develop and maintain effective PM’s for area of responsibility. PM maintenance and frequency will be driven by % of emergency break down. Monitor PM effectiveness and adjust inspections based on root cause analysis and break down analysis results.
Approves work-order requests for assigned area. Assist Planner/Scheduler with technical knowledge to allow for accurate planning and parts (kitting) required for execution of planned work backlog. Maintenance Skills Organizes and leads all planned maintenance activities in the area of responsibility including overall coordination of maintenance shutdowns/down days, preventative maintenance program, line maintenance shutdowns, and run time preventative maintenance, and predictive maintenance.
The role has direct responsibility for the effective and efficient utilization of the maintenance resources allocated to the area to assure the areas ability to meet TRS targets, MCC costs, and customer service objectives. In addition, this role has primary accountability for the effective management of the maintenance budget for the area.
Continuous Improvement Leads technical continuous improvements with direct impact on improved safety, quality and productivity. Recommend improvements and implement upgrades for re-occurring reliability issues or process improvements. Actively participates in functional improvement groups such as root cause analysis. Project Management Designs, implements, and manages execution of small minor and components of large minor projects within the facility.
Develops project timelines and budgets and manages against these objectives through utilization of internal and external resources. Elements of project responsibility will include specifications, installation, commissioning, risk assessment, and final hand-over. CMMS Fluent in CMMS software and ability to prioritize work and schedule.
Able to navigate systems to organize and track work via SAPPM system. Contractor Management Provides direction and quality of work expected of contractors in area of responsibility and ensures contractors are conforming to site safety and GMP requirements. Maintains a safe and clean work environment by following best practices and GMP’s to promote associate safety and guard product integrity.
Communication with sister units, co-manufacturers, co-packers, suppliers, and vendors to improve knowledge, develop relationships, and seek innovation. Safety Play an active role in identification and resolving of workplace hazards Promotion of safe work practices Responsible for following all Quality and Food Safety Policies and applicable procedures.
Food Safety Interact with site Quality Team to effectively control of CCPs Working knowledge of CFIA and requirements for Thermal Processing Active leader in site HACCP program Responsible for ensuring that all projects meet quality and food safety policies and procedures Responsible for following all Quality and Food Safety Policies and applicable procedures All other duties as required Education & Professional Qualifications Minimum Secondary School diploma and Post Secondary Education in a technical field Recognized trade certificate/license (433A Industrial Millwright Red Seal) Knowledge / Experience 5-10 years of manufacturing experience as Millwright with significant understanding of plant and manufacturing operations Minimum 2-3 years of Mechanical leadership and/or project management Proven ability to optimize equipment to meet or exceed product specifications, schedule, and planned rates Excellent technical problem solving and troubleshooting skills Organizational and time management skills Lean business practices and maintenance processes Knowledge of food safety, HACCP, ISO and safety practices and standards What can you expect from Mars?
