Job Title: Certified Tutor Exemption Status: Non-Exempt Reports to: Principal Pay Grade: 30.00 hour Works with: Students Days: 187 Dept./School: Assigned Campus Date Revised: 10.20.2021 This is a Grant Funded Position Primary Purpose: To provide supplemental instruction for students under the professional guidance and supervision of classroom/intervention teachers.
Day tutors work with students individually or in small groups providing supplemental reading, writing, and/or mathematics instruction. Day tutors may work with students in and out of the regular classroom.
Qualifications
Education/Certification: College degree required, teacher certification preferred Special Knowledge/Skills: Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, and perform arithmetic operations as needed to assist students. Ability to understand, apply and use personal computers and software applications (e.
g., Word, Excel). Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals. Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, employees and others. Ability to establish a supportive and compassionate relationship with students with special needs. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work.
Effective writing and verbal communication skills. Experience: Experience as classroom teacher with children in a professional/school setting Major Responsibilities and Duties: Adapts classroom activities, assignments and/or materials in conjunction with the classroom teacher for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing classroom objectives.
Assists students, individually or in small groups, for the purpose of practicing and/or reinforcing intervention strategies. Attends meetings and inservice presentations for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job functions. Collaborates with instructional staff, professional support personnel, and parents for the purpose of assisting in evaluating needs for and progress of intervention strategies.
Facilitates student learning for the purpose of achieving success in academic skills. Provides instruction to students in a variety of individual and group activities for the purpose of reinforcing instructional objectives. Supports classroom teachers and other school personnel for the purpose of assisting them in the implementation of curriculum and integrating intervention strategies.
Other duties as assigned by Supervisor and/or Superintendent.
