ABOUT THE COMPANY Westcliff University was established to provide quality education for students wishing to enter the expanding fields of Business and Education. Westcliff received its initial approval with the Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education in 1993 and is accredited under both the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC) and the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP).
Westcliff is comprised of a College of Business, College of Education, College of Technology & Engineering, Western State College of Law, College of Nursing, and Westcliff University Canada. This full-time faculty role is employed through INS Global as Employer of Record (EOR) on behalf of Westcliff University, teaching at Westcliff's partner campus HUEL (Henan University of Economics and Law) in Henan, China.
INS sponsors the work permit/visa and runs payroll; Westcliff manages the academic side.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Teaching Responsibilities (80%) Full-time faculty are expected to teach about 80% of their full time hours. It is equivalent to average thirty-six (36) class sections per academic year distributed across Fall and Spring terms. Teaching responsibilities include: ● Course preparation, instruction, facilitation, assessment, and student support in online and on-campus modalities ● Regularly scheduled virtual/onsite office hours to ensure access for students and colleagues ● Ongoing commitment to student mentoring, academic support, and instructional excellence Additional Expectations: ● Faculty are expected to maintain a regular onsite presence at their assigned teaching location and actively participate in the academic community of the partner institutions when possible to foster collegiality and student accessibility.
● Faculty are expected to remain actively and professionally engaged in their role at all times, and to represent the University in a manner consistent with its mission, vision, and established policies ● Faculty may be required to travel to other teaching sites as needed Service and Academic Leadership (10%) Full-time faculty contribute to the university through structured, mission-aligned service that supports academic quality, faculty development, governance, accreditation, and strategic initiatives.
Service commitments are determined in consultation with academic leadership and are designed to be purposeful, time-bounded, and equitably distributed. Service responsibilities may include: ● Program and curriculum leadership ● Accreditation, assessment, program review, and academic quality initiatives ● Collaboration with China partner institutions to support academic quality initiatives, referral pathways, and continuous improvement of student support systems ● Mentoring and supporting adjunct and new faculty ● Contribution to institutional initiatives and cross-functional academic projects ● Representation of the university at academic, professional, or community events, and external professional service.
● Curriculum development, new courses, course revision, new teaching/learning assessment tools and alignment with program learning outcomes ● Handles other projects and tasks as needed Innovation in teaching and learning (10%) Faculty are expected to contribute to the continuous advancement of teaching and learning practices through intentional innovation.
Innovation in teaching and learning is defined as purposeful exploration, implementation, or dissemination of practices that enhance the student learning experience, improve instructional effectiveness, or expand ways in which learning occurs within and beyond the classroom. Innovation may be pedagogical, curricular, experiential, or scholarly in nature and should be aligned with program goals, student needs, and institutional priorities.
Faculty may fulfill the innovation expectation through one or more of the following activities: ● Pedagogical Innovation: Pilot active, experiential, collaborative, or interdisciplinary teaching approaches. ● Curriculum and Course Design: Develop or redesign courses to improve engagement, accessibility, outcomes, and real-world relevance.
● Instructional Technology: Integrate and evaluate emerging technologies and share effective practices. ● Scholarship of Teaching and Learning: Document and share teaching innovations through publications, presentations, or communities of practice. ● Student Learning Experience: Create initiatives connecting students with applied learning, research, industry, or community.
Requirements
- Master's degree minimum with relevant teaching or applied experience in CS/AI; a PhD is not mandatory for this seat.
- Candidates with strong guest-lecturer or industry-instructor backgrounds (not only traditional academic faculty) are welcome — this seat has more flexibility than the Business Faculty seat.
- At least 5 years of relevant professional or industry experience.
- English fluency required; Mandarin is not required for the classroom or day-to-day.
- No nationality restriction; candidates already based in mainland China (ideally in or near Henan) are strongly preferred to minimize relocation friction. Industry practitioners with teaching/training experience are also encouraged to apply.

COMPENSATION
& CONTRACT
- Gross salary approx. RMB 16,800–27,000/month; net approx. RMB 14,000–21,000/month after standard deductions.
- 2-year contract, auto-renews on satisfactory performance — no reapplication needed at renewal.
- One reimbursed round-trip flight per year (faculty member only). Visa/work-permit costs sponsored and covered by the client via INS. Health insurance available.
- HUEL provides a furnished foreign-teacher apartment for hires relocating from another city; no standard housing allowance. No dependent-visa or schooling support currently available.
