Job description
The OEM Engineer is responsible for supporting the OEM Mechanical Engineer with mechanical design projects and engineering work related to seed handling conveyors, bulk systems, and seed treating equipment. This position is responsible for producing drawings, models, BOMs, and other engineering files, as well as taking ownership of smaller engineering projects from initial direction through completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Work through engineering tasks and projects assigned by the OEM Mechanical Engineer, communicate status updates, and raise questions or roadblocks in a timely manner.
- Create and revise models, production drawings, cut files, drawing revisions, exploded views, and other engineering files using Creo.
- Assign and create part numbers, BOM’s by following and staying within KSi defined protocol for new part creations
- Assist with manual creation of new products / maintenance of manuals for existing products by providing written content, drawings, etc.
- Complete assigned engineering changes, including change requests, ECNs, and drawing revisions, in a timely manner and in accordance with KSi standards and procedures.
- Take ownership of smaller engineering projects from initial direction through completion, including researching options, developing solutions, coordinating details, and preparing required drawings and files.
- Collaborate with Purchasing, Production, Sales, Marketing, and external vendors to support part sourcing and development, resolve manufacturing or assembly issues, and provide technical product information as needed.
- Collaborate with other members of the Engineering team and provide drawing/modeling support outside assigned projects as workload requires.
- Support troubleshooting and product issue resolution by researching the issue, updating drawings or documentation, and coordinating with the appropriate internal teams.
- Maintain organized, accurate engineering files and documentation and complete assigned work with attention to detail and timeliness.
Requirements
- Engineering, mechanical design, drafting, related education and/or relevant hands-on experience preferred.
- Proficiency in Creo for 3D modeling, production drawings, drawing revisions, exploded views, and related engineering documentation strongly preferred. Experience with AutoCAD is a plus.
- Ability to take general direction, research options, work through details, and independently move assigned tasks and smaller projects toward completion.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and priorities while producing accurate work in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of engineering principles and procedures
