Certified Teaching Assistant (CTA), 1:1 Position, Probationary (Crompond)

CERTIFIED TEACHING ASSISTANT Job Summary: Certified Teaching Assistants (CTAs) provide instructional services to students under the general supervision of a Certified Teacher Minimum Qualifications : NYSD Certification as a Teaching Assistant. Primary Activities Work with individual students or groups of students on special instructional projects.

Provide the teacher with information about students which will assist the teacher in the development of appropriate learning and behavioral experiences. Assist students in the use of available instructional resources, and assist in the development of instructional materials. Utilize special skills and abilities by assisting in instructional programs in such areas as: foreign languages, arts, crafts, music and similar subjects.

Assist in related instructional work as required. Assist students with specific health related activities as appropriate. Maintains instructional materials and/or manual and electronic files/records (e.g. lessons, attendance, pencils, paper, teaching supplies, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring availability of items, providing written reports, or meeting mandated requirements.

Performs general clerical tasks for the purpose of helping the teacher get instructional materials ready. Perform other related duties as assigned. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work. Ability to report work orally and in writing to supervisor as required.
