Weld Assembly Process Technician-2nd Shift
Job description
Description Purpose of Job: This position reports to the Weld Machine Group leaders, Weld Machine Supervisor, and Weld Machine Manager and is responsible for performing routine maintenance on welding/assembly equipment, support production by supplying weld machine components needed to run production. Operate mills/lathes, and grinder.
Minimum level of education / training required/certificates/licenses: This position requires a General Educational Diploma (GED) or High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma. Minimum experience required: Machining experience helpful but not required. Print reading knowledge, communication, computer proficient, robotic programming a plus.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Appropriately maintains all electrodes and weld fixtures in accordance to Preventive Maintenance Check Sheet (PMCS) criteria.
- Accurately maintains an acceptable level of consumable item inventory at all times (tips, insulation, etc.)
- Correctly manufactures special weld tips & fixtures when required.
- Proficiently operate mills, lathes, grinders, and other tool room equipment to produce weld tips and fixtures.
- Adequately reads calipers and micrometers.
- Successfully assists Weld Machine associates in setup and troubleshooting of welders and fixtures when needed.
- Proficiently troubleshoots and repairs equipment.
- Resourcefully maintains Weld Machine tooling to meet production and quality needs.
- Notifies Weld Machine Manager and/or Supervisor when replacement parts need to be ordered in a timely manner.
- Competent in process specs such as job Process Quality Control Table (PQCT) requirements and documentation, creates and updates PMCS and Setup/Teardown Standard Work Instructions.
- Precisely makes fixtures and recommended tooling for new production and development products which includes assisting tooling and design as needed to run development jobs.
- Resourcefully recommend to Department Manager when equipment or process change should be considered.
- Safely operate a tow-motor as required.
- Professionally and competently participates in Corrective Improvement for lost time on production jobs.
- Correctly and safely develops robotic welder programs for new jobs and maintains current programs.
- Thoroughly cleaned work areas, putting all items in appropriate locations.
- Based on company needs a flexible work schedule and/or overtime is needed. Tools and Equipment Used:
- PLEX, CADMAX, Vero International Software Inc. (VISI), Excel, Word, Power-Point
- Micrometers, calipers, indicators
- Hand tools, power tools
- Metal Inert Gas (MIG) welder
- Plasma cutter
- Push carts, pallet jacks
- Standard tool room equipment
- Scissors lift
- Robots (various models) Supervisory Responsibilities: This position does not supervise others.
