Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse

Job Summary**

The PCU RN provides comprehensive care to patients who are too stable for the ICU but require more intensive nursing care than a general medical-surgical floor. You will monitor vital signs and telemetry, manage complex medication regimens, and perform quick interventions to prevent deterioration.

Key Responsibilities**

• Patient Assessment & Monitoring:** Perform detailed, regular assessments of acutely ill patients and interpret specialized telemetry and diagnostic equipment data.

• Clinical Interventions:** Initiate life-saving interventions, manage cardiac drips, and titrate medication doses.

• Care Planning:** Develop, implement, and update nursing care plans in collaboration with physicians and interdisciplinary teams.

• Safety & Compliance:** Maintain a safe, therapeutic environment, adhering to all hospital policies and regulatory standards.

• Communication & Education:** Provide education to patients and families regarding disease management and post-operative recovery.

Required Qualifications**

• Education:** Graduation from an accredited nursing program (BSN preferred).

• Licensure:** Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia.

• Experience:** Minimum 1-2 years of experience in acute care, preferably in PCU or ICU.

• Certifications:** Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from the American Heart Association.

Preferred Qualifications**

• Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN).

• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
