Electrical Planner

Electrical Planner Gunnison Copper | Johnson Camp Mine | Cochise County, Arizona Full-time, site-based | Reports to the Maintenance Superintendent Turn your electrical experience into better planning, safer execution, and stronger plant reliability. Gunnison Copper is seeking a practical, field-oriented Electrical Planner to support our Johnson Camp Mine in southeastern Arizona, between Benson and Willcox.

Our copper operation combines open-pit mining, heap-leach processing, and solvent extraction/electrowinning (SX/EW), including innovative Nuton bioleaching applications. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced industrial electrical professional who understands maintenance work and knows how to prepare crews for success.

You will translate field conditions and maintenance needs into complete, executable job plans—helping ensure the right people, materials, tools, and safety controls are ready when work begins.

What you will do

Inspect proposed work in the field and develop electrical maintenance packages covering scope, labor estimates, parts, tools, drawings, permits, and safety requirements. Maintain accurate work orders, equipment histories, and a prioritized backlog in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). Develop and improve preventive and predictive maintenance plans for motors, motor control centers, drives, electrical distribution, instrumentation, and controls within your assigned scope.

Coordinate parts availability, vendor support, contractor requirements, and shutdown readiness. Work with the Maintenance Superintendent, Electrical Supervisor, Maintenance Planner, and Operations to develop realistic maintenance schedules. Use equipment history and technician feedback to improve job plans, reduce repeat failures, and increase planned maintenance.

Incorporate energy-isolation requirements and site safety controls into work packages, coordinating technical questions with qualified electrical personnel. What you bring Substantial hands-on industrial electrical experience and demonstrated ability to independently develop and coordinate maintenance plans. Working knowledge of industrial electrical equipment, technical drawings, troubleshooting practices, and maintenance materials.

Experience using a CMMS to manage work orders, job plans, equipment records, and maintenance backlog. Strong organization, attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate competing priorities across departments. Clear communication skills and a collaborative approach with electricians, supervisors, operations personnel, vendors, and contractors.

Experience that will help you stand out Electrical trade training, an apprenticeship, or related technical education. Electrical maintenance planning or reliability experience in mining, mineral processing, or another heavy industrial operation. Experience with open-pit copper, heap-leach, or SX/EW facilities. Familiarity with SAP, Maximo, or comparable maintenance software.

Work environment This position requires regular on-site presence and work in offices, shops, and active processing areas. Conditions may include heat, dust, noise, moving equipment, and uneven terrain.
