Attorney (Workers’ Compensation Defense) Are you detail-oriented, persuasive, and committed to achieving practical results for clients? Do you thrive in a structured litigation environment where thorough preparation wins cases? We are seeking an experienced Attorney to join a Workers’ Compensation Defense practice. This role is ideal for an attorney who combines strong courtroom and negotiation skills with clear, client-focused legal analysis.
You will manage an active caseload, handle all phases of defense litigation, and work collaboratively with colleagues to resolve claims efficiently and effectively. What You’ll Do Manage a docket of workers’ compensation defense matters from pre-filing through resolution Prepare and file pleadings, including responses, petitions, and administrative filings Draft and argue motions and handle pre-trial proceedings before the Workers’ Compensation Board and administrative judges Prepare for and participate in mediations and settlement negotiations, advocating for cost-effective outcomes Conduct factual and legal investigation, including review of medical records and deposition preparation Provide practical advice to clients regarding litigation strategy, exposure, and settlement options Work on related business litigation and real estate litigation matters as needed, leveraging cross-practice experience Maintain organized case files, meet deadlines consistently, and communicate proactively with clients and team members What We’re Looking For 3–7 years of litigation experience with substantial workers’ compensation defense exposure Active bar membership in California and in good standing Proven experience preparing pre-filings and pleadings, drafting motions, and handling pre-trial proceedings Strong mediation and settlement negotiation skills; comfortable advocating in ADR settings Experience or familiarity with business and real estate litigation matters is preferred Excellent legal writing, oral advocacy, and analytical abilities Ability to manage multiple matters, prioritize tasks, and meet strict deadlines Professional, client-focused demeanor with strong interpersonal skills Compensation & Benefits Salary Range: Competitive $110,000 – $150,000 base salary plus performance bonus, commensurate with experience.
