Job Description : California Freight is seeking an Assistant Mechanic. Long-term, full-time positions available in Sparks, Nevada. Equipment is primarily Peterbilt tractors, food-grade tankers, port/rail chassis, yard goats and dry vans. Able to work 10 hour shift

• Wed through Saturday
• Swing Shift (Afternoons) On call Saturday and Sunday night Job Duties: Perform required maintenance services on fleet tractors and trailers. (electrical, tire changes, minor mechanical repair, welding) Required to perform some of the work in the field travelling from Sparks shop to DFA in Fallon and to Model Dairy Perform tractor and trailer PM services as required by DOT 49 CFR 396. Complete written PM inspection forms. Maintain written repair orders to include labor hours, parts used and comments. Perform lot checks to verify equipment condition. Operate class A vehicles in yard conditions, move fleet equipment safely around yard and into and out of service facility. ( Class A CDL a plus) Operate basic shop tools to include; welders, torches, impact wrenches, band saw, ladders and other equipment as assigned.
