Job description
WHO IS LEE DOUGLAS INTERIORS Lee Douglas is an interior design firm specializing in space planning and drafting, construction management, including new builds and remodels, offering building products such as lighting and flooring as well as final styling. In addition to our design specialty, we have two types of retail stores.
Lee Douglas Interiors, that offers furniture, artwork, and accessories, and our sister store, The Loft, which is a themed store that sells finishing touches for every room in the house. POSTION OBJECTIVE The Design and Retail Sales position is ideal for someone with an eye for design who enjoys merchandising, styling, product selection, and creating exceptional customer experience.
While this is a retail position, your interior design knowledge will be invaluable in helping customers select furnishings, finishes, artwork, and accessories while supporting our showroom operations. Working alongside the Retail Manager, you’ll help lead daily store operations, inspire customers through beautiful merchandising, support sales initiatives, and ensure every customer receives an outstanding experience.
QUALIFICATIONS
Degree in Interior Design preferred (or equivalent professional design experience) Experience in residential interior design, furniture sales, or luxury retail preferred Strong understanding of furniture, color, scale, and home decor Excellent communication and relationship building skills Comfortable using point-of-sale systems and technology Customer-focused with dedication to delivering outstanding service Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities Basic math skills for cash handling Problem-solving skills and the ability to make decisions in a fast-paced retail environment JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Assist in leading the daily operations of the retail store, including opening and closing procedures Create an inviting and inspiring shopping environment through exceptional merchandising and showroom presentation Build relationships with customers by understanding their style, needs, and project goals Provide product recommendations using your design expertise Support the Retail Manager in achieving sales goals Stay current on new products, industry trends, and company promotions Assist with inventory management, receiving merchandise, tagging products, and showroom placement Address customer concerns professionally and escalate issues when appropriate Support company events, seasonal floor changes, and promotional initiatives Collaborate with other departments to provide a seamless customer experience Must be able to work a rotating Saturday schedule, surrounding holidays, and evenings if necessary for events SPECIAL DEMANDS Retail positions require candidates to sit and operate at a computer for extended periods of time.
Due to our industry and widespread client base, on occasion, overtime or travel may be required. Lee Douglas Interiors operates as Team LDI and often requires assistance from multiple departments on tasks in the warehouse or throughout the facility, candidates must be able to perform in environments of varying temperature and noise conditions.
Positions require organization and inventory of merchandise and property; candidates must be able to perform on their feet and lift and carry merchandise for transfers and cataloging.
