About the job

Kent is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to be based in Corpus Christ, Texas and seconded to the client. You will provide project discipline engineering support on project teams towards the successful completion of projects as assigned so that they are successfully completed and meet the objectives. Skills and Responsibilities: Responsibilities: Experience in the design and operations of electrical systems in refining and chemical plants Oversee the design of substations and prefabricated electrical buildings Develop relaying and protective schemes for the facility and direct contractors on the implementation thereof on projects Oversee the design and installation of MV and LV motors, switchgear, protective relays, transformers, ASD and UPS systems Lead team on the startup, commissioning and troubleshooting of various types of electrical equipment, from DC systems and low voltage up to 69kV including motors, switchgear, motor control centers, protective relays, transformers, UPS, ASD and distribution panels Work with operations on LOTO, Hot work permits and other site safety requirements to safely execute work on the site Design electrical systems and equipment per industry standards, company standards and industry best practices Oversee the implementation and installation of proper grounding for all electrical equipment Review electrical system studies including short circuit, load flow, relay coordination and arc flash and make recommendations for improvements Review equipment specifications and data sheets and make comments/recommendations Review vendor data for new equipment and make comments/recommendations Review Electrical Area Classification drawings and make comments/recommendations Participate in FATs and SATs for new electrical equipment Work with project teams on the execution of projects Partner with Project Managers and Discipline managers to design and execute project plans Attend project team meetings and vendor review meetings Review designs for constructability in accordance with project requirements Utilize SKM or ETAP for power system studies (as required) In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management.

These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.

Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience: Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from a recognized institution. A minimum of 10 years of experience in the design of Electrical distribution systems in refining and chemical plants. Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.

E.) is preferred but not required. Must be familiar with NETA ATS and MTS testing standards Must be familiar with the use of electrical testing equipment Must be familiar with operation and maintenance of various breaker types including: Gas insulated, vacuum insulated, and air insulated Relevant engineering/operations experience with 69 kV, 12.

47 kV, 4.16 kV and 480 V distribution systems. Knowledge of Electrical Area Classification design and studies including applicable standards such as API RP 500 and NFPA 497. Knowledge of Battery/UPS systems. Knowledge of Substation Grounding study and Grounding Grid Layout. Must be very familiar with industry electrical standards for equipment and design (IEEE, NFPA, NEMA, API, ICEA, UL, ASTM, etc.)

Works with minimal supervision, manages own time effectively and maintains control over all current projects/responsibilities. Good writing skills to produce reports, scope documents and presentation materials. Exhibits an understanding of business drivers, management of change requirements, and construction workflow.

Communication: Effective communications skills in English (written and verbal). Behavior/ Core Competencies: Demonstrate a high regard for safety, quality and environmental policies and procedures. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Demonstrated leadership skills, self-motivated & goal-oriented and team player.

Proven multi-tasker with strong organizational skills, with the ability to meet assignment schedule & deliver quality products under pressure. Adherence to HSE norms by self and team. Strong computer background including experience with MS Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams). HSSEQ: The Employee shall observe the Health, Safety, Sustainability, Environment and Quality rules of the Company; it’s clients and the governing authorities of the host country.
