About Us

Power Trip Rentals supplies generators, aerial lifts, power distribution, and heavy equipment to the film, entertainment, and event industries, with locations in Signal Hill, Sun Valley, and Las Vegas. When a production needs power, we make sure it’s there, and our service team is what keeps that promise. The Role We’re looking for an experienced Service / Shop Manager to lead our Signal Hill shop and our service/mechanic team.

You’ll manage the technicians and mechanics who keep our fleet maintained and rental-ready, handle repairs in the shop and in the field, and work closely with dispatch and operations so equipment gets back out the door on time. What You’ll Do Lead, schedule, and train the shop technicians and the service/mechanic team Run daily shop operations and keep equipment repaired and rental-ready on schedule Dispatch and support mechanics on service calls and equipment issues at customer job sites Build and manage a preventive maintenance program for the full fleet Assign and prioritize work orders, and sign off on quality checks before equipment goes back out Manage parts ordering, inventory, purchase orders, and vendor relationships Coordinate with dispatch and operations on equipment availability and return-to-fleet timelines Keep accurate service records, maintenance logs, and equipment histories Handle performance check-ins and work with HR on hiring and team documentation Report regularly to leadership on fleet status, shop performance, and service team performance Promote a safety-first culture in the shop and in the field, and support our company safety program What You Bring 5+ years of experience in equipment service, mechanic work, or shop management, including at least 2 years supervising a team Strong mechanical knowledge of generators, aerial lifts, heavy equipment, and power distribution systems Experience managing both in-shop and field service work Experience with parts ordering, inventory control, and vendor relations The ability to juggle priorities and hit deadlines in a fast-paced environment Solid communication, organization, and leadership skills Comfort with Microsoft Office or similar tools Valid California driver’s license with a clean driving record Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends, and on-call as needed High school diploma or equivalent Nice to Have Technical degree or certifications in diesel mechanics, heavy equipment, or a related field Experience with fleet or maintenance management software Physical Requirements This role involves moving throughout the shop, yard, and customer job sites, occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs, and working around moving mechanical parts, outdoor conditions, and moderate to loud noise.

PPE is required in certain areas.
