Accounting Manager

Description Accounting Manager Location: Virginia Beach, VA (On-site) Job Type: Full-Time Compensation: $85,000 – $120,000 / year (Commensurate with experience) About the Role We are an established government contracting company seeking an experienced, proactive Accounting Manager to lead daily financial operations for our Boating Division, alongside a few other affiliated entities.

Our accounting team utilizes QuickBooks Online , Dealer. Rock , and Paylocity . Reporting to the Director of Finance, you will own general ledger management, drive month-end closes across multiple QBO company files, oversee system integrations between Dealer Rock and QBO, manage state/local sales tax compliance, and supervise an Accounts Payable Clerk.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain chart of accounts, process month-end/year-end closing journal entries, perform balance sheet reconciliations, and manage the trial balance Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for executive review Direct, train, and review the daily work of the Accounts Payable Clerk Process payroll via Paylocity , ensuring accurate wage calculations, benefit deductions, and tax withholdings.

Prepare, file, and remit recurring monthly/quarterly sales and use tax filings in compliance with state and local tax authorities. Required Qualifications 3–5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including full-cycle general ledger management and financial statement Software Proficiency: Advanced hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online (QBO) , including multi-entity account management Direct experience with Paylocity for payroll setup and processing.

Experience operating or integrating a Dealer Management System (DMS) (e.g., Dealer. Rock, Dockmaster, Lightspeed, or similar marine/dealership software) with QBO. Tax & Reporting: Strong practical knowledge of state sales and use tax filing regulations and electronic state portals. Spreadsheet Skills: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent hands-on industry experience.
