Job Summary

The Exhibits Manager plays a key role on the NASCAR Hall of Fame exhibition development team, overseeing the production, installation, and maintenance of high‑quality exhibits. This role manages project workflows, timelines, and fabrication processes while ensuring exhibits are delivered on mission, on time, and on budget.

The position collaborates closely with internal teams — including Operations, Events, Marketing, and Communications — to translate content into engaging guest experiences and ensure exhibits remain well maintained. This role supports multiple high‑profile projects simultaneously and provides leadership in project management and exhibit production.

Job Responsibilities

Essential Job Duties Collaborate with the staff of the Museum and Industry Affairs Department in the establishment and organization of exhibit content as part of exhibition development team. Develop of exhibits under the direction of the Sr. Manager of Exhibits and Collections from conception through completion, including project plans, installation, milestone development to ensure alignment of project goals and expectations including schedules, deliverables, documents, etc.

Develop realistic and achievable schedules for execution of multiple simultaneous exhibition projects Under the direction of the Sr Manager, transform curatorial concepts into designs and experiences using sketches, illustrations, models, etc. Coordinate design packages, prototypes and presentation packages with internal partners and external vendors for review.

Track exhibit refresh needs and execute changes through the content to production phases Coordinate with Operations & Guest Services staff on exhibit maintenance needs Work in a highly collaborative fashion with other staff and third parties. Drive internal success through the developing and monitoring a workflow that results in creative exhibitions delivered on mission, on time, and on budget.

Under the direction of the Sr Manager create budgets and track budgets for exhibit expenses. Prepare periodic reporting, as needed, on exhibition development progress Oversee the retention of accurate records and archives of exhibitions Stay educated and informed on new trends and best practices in exhibition development and design.

May perform other duties as needed. Consistently deliver the best in customer service. This job will have periodic access to confidential data including wages and salaries, company records and/or minutes, customer quotes, product costs, and company plans, designs, and/or programs.

Supervisory Responsibility This position will supervise one staff member Knowledge and Skill Requirements Excellent time management with proven success to create and manage projects, expertise in developing project timelines production schedules, and vendor management. Demonstrated knowledge of all stages of exhibit development from concept to installation.

Demonstrated experience transforming concepts into exhibits, specifically in the areas of history and/or technology. Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously. A history of collaborating across multiple museum disciplines including curators, educators and collections managers. Experience with artifact handling and complex installation projects.

Ability to read technical drawings such as floorplans, elevations, graphics packages, etc. Experience using the ADOBE suite of products such as Illustrator, In. Design, Photoshop and basic drafting programs. Familiarity with museum databases. Proficiency in project management systems.

Education and Experience

A Master’s Degree in Museum Studies is preferred for this position, as well as a minimum of 10 years of experience in a museum/science center, or similar organization to the NHOF. Experience may be substituted for education depending on the candidates’ particular employment history. The successful candidate must have demonstrated experience developing exhibits from concept to completion, with specific skill in project management and transforming content into experiences and applying creative solutions across all aspects of exhibit components from floor plans to artifact placement.

Activity in professional organizations such as AAM, ASTC, etc. Physical Demands Must be able to stand and walk for up to 10 hours at a time. Must be comfortable with and able to climb and descend stairs. Must be able to push and or lift exhibits (weight of 40 -50 lbs.) Work Environment Work environment is typically quiet.

Ability to work weekends and/or evenings, depending upon Exhibits schedule.
