Medical Transcriptionist - Part Time

Location: Fairhope Office 188 Hospital Drive, Fairhope, AL 36532 Located on the campus of Thomas Hospital Cardiology Associates is seeking a detail-oriented part-time Medical Transcriptionist to join our Fairhope team. This position supports our physicians by accurately transcribing dictation, maintaining medical documentation, and assisting with related medical records responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Accurately transcribe physician dictation, ensuring completion within two days. Review transcribed documents for correct medical terminology, grammar, spelling, and accuracy. Upload voice recordings from dictation devices and process dictation through the transcription system. Collect, reconcile, and distribute testing paperwork, checking it against the appointment schedule for completeness.

Prepare and forward documentation to Medical Records for scanning and filing. Route medical records requests and disability paperwork to the appropriate department or staff member. Use electronic medical records and appointment scheduling systems. Maintain patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA guidelines. Communicate professionally with physicians, staff, patients, and families.

Monitor supplies and assist with other related duties as needed.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required. Two years of medical transcription experience preferred. Certified Medical Transcriptionist (CMT) credential preferred, but not required. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, English grammar, and spelling. Accurate typing skills and strong attention to detail. Ability to organize and prioritize tasks while meeting deadlines.

Proficiency with computers and the ability to learn electronic medical records and transcription systems. Professional, dependable, and able to work cooperatively with others. Job Type: Part-time Location: Fairhope, AL
