Position Summary
The Senior Project Scheduler is responsible for developing, maintaining, and analyzing integrated project schedules supporting the planning and execution of major capital projects. The role serves as the Primavera P6 scheduling subject matter expert and provides schedule analysis, critical path evaluation, and independent schedule assurance of contractor schedule deliverables.
The Senior Project Scheduler will work closely with engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, operations, project management, and project controls personnel to support successful project execution from project development through startup and production readiness. The role supports project decision-making by providing timely schedule analysis, identifying schedule risks and opportunities, and promoting alignment among project scope, cost, schedule, and execution strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, maintain, and analyze integrated project schedules utilizing Primavera P6. Establish and maintain project schedule baselines, progress measurement methodologies, schedule updates, and reporting processes. Review contractor schedule submissions for compliance with project requirements and accepted scheduling practices.
Perform schedule quality assessments and schedule health reviews, including evaluation of logic, constraints, float consumption, progress updates, schedule trends, and critical path validity. Provide independent schedule assurance through review of contractor schedule performance, schedule integrity, critical paths, projected completion dates, progress updates, and recovery plans.
Identify schedule risks, logic deficiencies, unrealistic assumptions, and potential impacts to project objectives and key milestones. Analyze critical and near-critical paths and recommend actions to improve schedule performance and mitigate delays. Collaborate with project controls, engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, operations, and project management teams to maintain alignment among project scope, cost, schedule, and project execution strategies.
Coordinate integration of engineering deliverables, procurement activities, vendor milestones, equipment delivery, construction, commissioning, startup, and operational readiness activities within project schedules. Monitor schedule impacts associated with long-lead equipment, fabrication, logistics, material availability, and construction readiness.
Review project progress and schedule updates to assess consistency with project execution status and contractor-reported performance. Participate in occasional site visits to support schedule validation, progress assessment, and coordination with project stakeholders. Support commissioning, startup, operational readiness, and production ramp-up planning and scheduling activities.
Prepare schedule analyses, performance metrics, reports, and presentations to support project leadership and stakeholder decision-making. Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of scheduling standards, processes, and governance practices as the organization grows. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Business, or related discipline.
Equivalent experience may be considered. 8+ years of project scheduling experience supporting industrial, mining, mineral processing, manufacturing, energy, infrastructure, EPCM, or major capital projects. Advanced proficiency with Primavera P6. Strong understanding of Critical Path Method (CPM) scheduling principles.
Experience developing and maintaining integrated project schedules. Experience reviewing and evaluating contractor schedule submissions. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to communicate schedule risks, impacts, and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting mining, mineral processing, manufacturing, processing facilities, or other industrial capital projects. Experience supporting commissioning, startup, operational readiness, and production ramp-up activities. Experience performing schedule risk reviews and schedule recovery analysis. Familiarity with schedule health assessment tools and schedule quality best practices.
Experience with Power BI or similar reporting and visualization tools. Work Environment The work environment will be a mix of a typical office environment, construction sites, manufacturing facilities, and mining operations. Travel to project sites may be required.
