Commercial / Operational Manager – Sports Betting

Location: Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo Contract: Permanent About the Role We are looking for an experienced Commercial / Operational Manager to lead the commercial performance and day-to-day operations of a growing Sports Betting business in the DRC. The role will oversee sales performance, retail operations and the POS agent network, ensuring commercial targets are achieved while driving business expansion across Kinshasa and other regions.

This is a hands-on management position requiring strong commercial acumen, operational experience and the ability to lead large teams in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement commercial strategies and sales plans to drive revenue growth. Set and monitor sales targets across retail shops, cashiers and POS agents. Monitor key business KPIs, including turnover, GGR, NGR, payout ratios and profitability. Oversee daily retail operations, ensuring consistent standards, customer service and operational efficiency.

Manage and expand the POS agent network, including recruitment, onboarding, training and performance management. Identify new business opportunities, distribution partnerships and potential retail locations. Work closely with Marketing and Trading teams on promotions, customer acquisition, retention and betting product optimisation.

Manage commercial budgets, forecasts and business performance reporting. Lead, develop and motivate commercial and field teams, ensuring accountability against targets. Ensure compliance with local gaming regulations, AML/KYC requirements and Responsible Gaming standards. Identify and manage operational risks, including cash handling, fraud and internal controls.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Business, Commerce, Economics or a related field. 5–8 years of experience in commercial and/or operational management, including at least 3 years in a leadership position. Previous experience in Sports Betting, iGaming, FMCG, Telecommunications or Mobile Money distribution. Proven experience managing retail operations, field sales teams or agent networks.

Good understanding of betting business KPIs, including turnover, GGR, NGR and payout ratios. Experience developing commercial strategies, product launches and promotional campaigns. Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Excel and reporting tools. Excellent leadership, negotiation and relationship management skills.

Ability to work in a demanding, fast-paced environment and take a hands-on approach. Previous experience in the DRC or other African markets is a strong advantage. Languages English: Professional working proficiency required. French: Advantageous but not mandatory. Lingala: Additional advantage.
