Strong performers have additional upside above target. What Success Looks Like At mature territory performance, consistently generate at least 29 qualified AAC referrals per month. At mature territory performance, consistently produce at least 20 qualified delivered devices per month. Operate as a true field representative: normally in the assigned market five days per week, with the majority of each workday spent in the field unless business needs, order workload, or leadership direction require otherwise.
Build sustainable production through new-account development, productive referral relationships, account penetration, and consistent follow-through—not solely through inherited business. Maintain disciplined territory planning and CRM documentation so activity, referrals, opportunities, barriers, and next actions are visible and actionable.
Build meaningful adult rehabilitation and medical referral channels in addition to pediatric and therapy-based sources, including hospital and rehabilitation relationships where appropriate. Develop a balanced referral network across relevant healthcare call points and convert field activity into measurable referral and delivery growth.
Work closely with the AAC Speech-Language Pathologist and other internal teams to resolve barriers quickly and keep viable opportunities moving.
What You Will Do
Develop referral relationships with SLP clinics, hospitals, inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation, PM&R, neurology, developmental pediatrics, pediatric practices, ABA/autism programs, home health, private-duty nursing, universities, and other appropriate healthcare/community sources. Prospect continuously for new referral opportunities and open new healthcare accounts.
Protect and grow productive existing accounts while maintaining an active portfolio of strategic referral sources. Conduct professional in-services, presentations, lunch-and-learns, referral-process education, and product demonstrations. Coordinate demos, trials, evaluations/consults, and local equipment logistics as needed.
Support required in-person deliveries and customer follow-up. Work closely with AAC Speech-Language Pathologists on clinical opportunities and unresolved clinic/SLP barriers. Complete assigned in-person interventions when remote efforts have not resolved a case barrier, documenting the result and next action clearly. Use referral, account, activity, and production data to manage the territory and prioritize time.
Represent the organization professionally with clinicians, physicians, patients, caregivers, and healthcare organizations. You May Be a Strong Fit If You Have a demonstrated history of success in healthcare, medical-device, pharmaceutical, DME, specialty, or consultative field sales. Enjoy developing new business rather than simply servicing an existing book of accounts.
Can establish professional credibility with hospitals, clinics, physician practices, rehabilitation organizations, and clinical decision-makers. Are comfortable being measured on tangible referral, delivery, and territory-development results. Are highly organized and consistently follow through on commitments. Use CRM and data as tools to manage your business.
Want a field-heavy role with meaningful compensation upside tied directly to performance. Enjoy working with both clinical and commercial professionals in a team-based healthcare environment.
Qualifications
Proven healthcare, medical-device, pharmaceutical, DME, rehabilitation, or related consultative sales experience preferred. Demonstrated quota attainment, territory growth, referral growth, new-account development, or other measurable sales results. Experience calling on SLPs, physicians, rehabilitation facilities, hospitals, therapy practices, case managers, or other healthcare decision-makers.
Strong prospecting, consultative selling, presentation, negotiation, account-management, and closing skills. Experience with CRM-based territory and pipeline management. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to independently manage a large metropolitan territory and frequent local travel. Valid driver’s license and ability to transport demo equipment.
Preferred Differentiators Formal sales training such as Challenger, SPIN Selling, Sandler, Strategic Selling/Miller Heiman, or a similar consultative sales methodology. Experience with AAC, speech-generating devices, assistive technology, DME reimbursement, rehabilitation technology, or complex medical equipment. Work Schedule Full-time, exempt, field-based position; generally Monday through Friday with flexibility required to meet territory, customer, and patient needs.
The normal operating expectation is field presence in the Chicago market five days per week, with the majority of each workday spent actively developing and supporting the territory unless business needs, order workload, or leadership direction require otherwise. Occasional early-morning, evening, or weekend work may be required for travel, demonstrations, evaluations/consults, deliveries, in-services, conferences, events, or other territory needs.
