Substitute Teacher

A substitute teacher steps in for absent regular teachers. They are responsible for completing teacher pre-written lesson plans, maintaining school safety, managing classroom behavior.

Position Overview

Substitute Teacher (Guest Teacher) Goal: Keep student learning on track when the full-time teacher is away. Type: Short-term, long-term, or building-based sub. Main Duties Teach lessons: Follow the lesson plans left by the regular teacher. Manage behavior: Keep students focused, safe, and orderly. Take roll: Record student attendance using school rules.

Supervise: Watch students in class, hallways, or at lunch. Leave notes: Write a summary of what the class did for the returning teacher. Skills Needed Clear speaking and listening skills. Patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude. Basic knowledge of school subjects and child growth. Ability to follow directions fast.

Requirements

High school diploma or college degree. Clean background check. Valid sub permit or teaching license if required.
