Job Title: Manager, Transitional Housing

  • Apartments Department: Programs Location: Remote FLSA Status: Exempt Reports to: Sr. Director, Transitional Housing Programs Founded in 2002, Operation Homefront is a national nonprofit organization whose mission is to build strong, stable, and secure military and veteran families by improving their financial, emotional, and social well-being. Operation Homefront is sourcing candidates for a Manager, Transitional Housing – Apartments position (remote). The Housing Manager provides oversight of the Transitional Housing – Apartments (TH-A) program, ensuring effective delivery, performance, and quality of services in alignment with Operation Homefront’s mission, standards, and strategic objectives. This role leads case management oversight, program compliance, and client engagement efforts to ensure veterans and their families receive consistent, high-quality support that promotes housing stability and self-sufficiency. Desired candidates will have: Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field desired, master’s preferred. 3-5 years’ experience in non-profit organization or working with military community. Knowledge of housing programs and military pay systems preferred Property management experience Microsoft Office 365 Valid Driver’s License MVR – Motor Vehicle Report (annual) Criminal background check 100/300/100 personal auto coverage Primary job duties include: Monitors client progress through regular check-ins, including virtual monthly renewal meetings and virtual unit inspections. Coordinates financial counseling services and transition resources to support long-term stability. Assists clients in successfully transitioning into their communities by providing guidance and connections to local resources. Educates clients on program and property rules and expectations, ensuring a safe, respectful, and well-maintained living environment. Participate in community outreach activities, such as committees, coalitions, presentations, task forces, or provider meetings. Attends relevant community groups focused on housing, veteran services, and supportive services to stay informed and build partnerships. Shares program, department, and organizational updates, including eligibility criteria and current availability, with community partners. Consistently documents outreach activities, key contacts, and outcomes. Reviews applications to determine program eligibility, conducts applicant intakes, and completes background and reference checks. Ensure all move-in documentation is accurately completed and maintains up-to-date, confidential client records. Coordinate with Integrated Public Relations, Accounting, and Development teams to provide accurate, up-to-date program information for grant proposals and reporting requirements related to the TH-A program. Ensure all program documentation is complete, accurate, and kept up to date in accordance with organizational standards and compliance requirements. As the program grows, provide guidance, mentorship, and support to Housing Case Workers and assist with training and onboarding new team members to support consistent and effective program implementation. Complete property management responsibilities, including unit set up, maintenance and repairs, conducting virtual property inspections, addressing resident concerns, and ensuring units are maintained in a safe, clean, and well-functioning condition. Ensure accurate and timely data entry across all required systems while maintaining tracking of key performance indicators. Support reporting, audits, and program evaluations by providing complete, reliable, and compliant data. Coordinate donation requests, accounting documentation & internal reports Performs other duties as assigned. Other Details: General office and sedentary. Use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer and calculator. Manual dexterity, ability to lift up to 20 pounds. Ability to drive a motor vehicle and travel to and from meetings, training sessions or other business-related events as needed. May be required to work after hours to include weekends and holidays.
