Job description

Position: Transportation Specialist (12-Month) Location: District Administration Building Pay Information: $20.35 per hour, family benefits provided Position Summary: The Transportation Specialist is responsible for working directly with the Transportation Supervisor to implement District transportation goals in administrative, transportation and instructional areas.

Essential Functions

Acts as the first point of contact for parent questions and concerns regarding student transportation Assists with developing bus routes and strives to improve the experience of students and families Notifies drivers, parents and appropriate school personnel of any changes in a student's bus service (address changes, changes in pick up/drop off locations, changes in bus time, etc) Maintains accurate student records, including special education accommodations, custody changes, childcare changes, address changes, etc.

and communicates these changes with vendor dispatch, parents, and school buildings Maintains accurate driver records, including all required documentation and current clearances Maintains required documentation such as incident reports, accident reports, etc. Collaborates with district staff (special education, athletics, building principals, etc) to schedule and implement transportation operations and programs Maintains relationships with transportation vendors and providers while ensuring compliance with all transportation contracts.

Makes urgent, time-sensitive decisions impacting student safety such as rerouting buses, locating missing students, bus breakdowns, etc. Oversees the operations of the transportation department independently at times Assists with establishing, administering, and monitoring the Transportation Department's long range plans, policies, and procedures (aligned with District, local, state, and federal transportation mandates), ensuring effectiveness of supporting programs and compliance by Transportation Department vendors and providers Demonstrates the use of current technology to ensure efficient and effective operations Represents the Transportation Department to school and community stakeholders, as well as to local safety officials in matters of mutual interest Promotes customer service philosophies within a service-oriented organization Upholds and enforces rules, administrative directives and regulations, school board policies, and local, state and federal regulations Assists with the collection and preparation of data for state reporting which generates reimbursements for the district.

Maintains professional relationships and works cooperatively with employees, the community, and other professionals Works with district leadership to make recommendations for delays and closures in the event of inclement weather to ensure student safety. Acts as the backup to the Transportation Supervisor as needed. Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required Previous experience in an administrative role or related position preferred Prior experience in transportation or logistics preferred Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products and Google Workspace Experience in a public-school setting preferred Demonstrated leadership skills The ability to work effectively with groups and individuals The ability to make sound decisions and withstand pressures Strong attention to detail and accuracy ability to manage multiple responsibility and deadlines with minimal supervision Customer service mindset Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately High standards of ethics, integrity and honesty
