Credit Analyst
Job description
Being a Credit Analyst on the Equipment Finance team at National Bank means serving as a trusted risk expert and key partner to our sales and credit teams. In this role, you'll use your financial analysis, risk assessment, and decision-making skills to support Canadian businesses with financing solutions that help them grow and succeed.
You'll play a critical role in balancing risk and reward by evaluating credit opportunities, structuring transactions, and providing sound recommendations that support profitable growth while protecting the Bank's interests.
Your role
Credit analysis. Risk management. Client support. Collaboration. Analyze financial information, credit applications, and supporting documentation to assess borrower risk and repayment capacity. Structure and recommend financing solutions that align with client needs and the Bank's risk appetite. Collaborate with Sales, Relationship Managers, and Credit colleagues to support timely and informed credit decisions.
Approve transactions within delegated lending authority and prepare recommendations for more complex credit requests. Identify key risks, mitigating factors, collateral considerations, and policy exceptions. Monitor portfolio quality and contribute to annual reviews, risk assessments, and corrective action plans where required.
Ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. Your Team Within Equipment Finance, you'll be part of a collaborative credit team and report to a Credit Manager. Prerequisites Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Finance, Commerce, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. 1-3 years of experience in commercial lending, credit adjudication, banking, or financial analysis.
Strong understanding of financial statement analysis and credit risk assessment. Knowledge of commercial lending structures, collateral security, and credit documentation.
