MAINTENANCE MANAGER Fireside Inn ABOUT THE PROPERTY Located along scenic Moonstone Beach Drive in Cambria, Fireside Inn on Moonstone Beach offers a relaxed coastal retreat where modern comfort meets cozy, cottage-inspired charm. The recently renovated hotel features 46 inviting guest rooms with fireplaces and private patios, select ocean-view accommodations, a heated outdoor pool, and complimentary breakfast bites featuring local pastries, seasonal fruit, and San Luis Obispo-roasted coffee.

Just steps from Moonstone Beach and minutes from downtown Cambria, Hearst Castle, local wineries, and other Central Coast attractions, Fireside Inn is an ideal home base for a relaxing seaside getaway. THE ROLE As a Maintenance Manager, you’ll lead the day-to-day maintenance of the hotel, ensuring the property remains safe, functional, and well maintained for guests and team members.

You’ll oversee preventive and emergency repairs, manage and develop the Engineering team, and take a hands-on approach to keeping guest rooms, building systems, and public spaces in excellent working order. You’ll: Oversee interior and exterior maintenance across the entire property, including guest rooms, public areas, building systems, and grounds Lead, schedule, assign, train, and develop the maintenance team while maintaining clear expectations and accountability Coordinate preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance to keep the property safe, functional, and guest-ready Ensure guestroom preventive maintenance is completed and documented, including inspections of electrical appliances, lighting, televisions, refrigerators, and other equipment Troubleshoot and repair guestroom HVAC/PTAC systems and other maintenance issues, replacing or repairing equipment as needed Maintain working knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, drywall, locks, and pool/spa equipment Conduct regular property inspections and ensure maintenance issues are addressed promptly Maintain tools and equipment in safe working condition and oversee maintenance supplies, inventory, and approved purchases Keep exterior lighting, gutters, walkways, parking areas, trash enclosures, landscaping, pool/spa areas, and common spaces properly maintained Maintain accurate maintenance records and track the type and frequency of completed work Ensure proper control of hotel keys and familiarity with critical utility shutoffs, plumbing cleanouts, and fire safety equipment Promote safe work practices, proper tool and chemical handling, and compliance with applicable safety requirements Communicate maintenance needs, project updates, and operational concerns to hotel leadership and other departments Provide hands-on support during maintenance emergencies, including after-hours situations when needed Partner with other hotel departments to support smooth operations and a positive guest experience WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE The property is safe, attractive, and operating as it should, with maintenance issues addressed promptly and preventive maintenance consistently completed.

The team is organized, well trained, and accountable, equipment and building systems are kept in working order, and hotel leadership can count on you to take ownership of maintenance needs and respond when challenges arise. WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR 2+ years of hotel maintenance experience, including supervisory experience or progressive maintenance responsibilities Working knowledge of electrical systems, plumbing, HVAC/PTAC, carpentry, drywall, locks, and pool/spa care Ability to troubleshoot and complete repairs across guest rooms, public areas, and building systems Experience coordinating preventive maintenance, repairs, inspections, and emergency response Experience scheduling, training, coaching, and holding team members accountable Strong organizational, prioritization, delegation, and problem-solving skills Ability to maintain records, manage inventory, and coordinate supplies and equipment Knowledge of safe tool and chemical use and a strong commitment to property safety and security Hands-on, dependable, and comfortable stepping in to resolve maintenance issues Strong communication skills and a friendly, professional approach with guests and team members English proficiency; bilingual skills are a plus Flexible availability, including weekends and holidays, with the ability to respond to after-hours emergencies when needed Ability to work indoors and outdoors, climb stairs and ladders, and perform frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, pushing, and pulling Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
