Northern Area Sales Manager Company: Associated Optical | Eyewear & Magnification Location: Field-based – North of England (extending to the Scottish border) Salary: £40,000–£45,000 per annum (DOE) + Commission Benefits: Company Tesla, Laptop, iPhone & iPad Hours: Full-time, up to 40 hours per week About Associated Optical Associated Optical is a leading UK distributor with over 40 years of experience supplying premium eyewear and low-vision/magnification products to independent opticians, optical groups, and NHS hospitals.

Our portfolio includes respected global brands ( Eschenbach, Cocoons, Humphrey’s ) and our proprietary UK brand, Kukuna . The Role We are seeking an enthusiastic, commercially driven Northern Area Sales Manager to take ownership of an established territory with strong growth potential. Reporting to the Sales Manager, you will balance existing account management with proactive new business development across retail optics and specialist healthcare sectors.

Key Responsibilities

Plan customer visits efficiently across the region to maximize coverage and sales growth. Account & Business Development: Strengthen existing relationships while identifying and securing new optical retail and NHS accounts. Product Demonstrations: Present and demonstrate technical magnification equipment, low-vision aids, and eyewear.

Sales Targets: Meet and exceed targets by driving revenue, market share, and new product launches. Internal Collaboration: Work with customer service and management to deliver exceptional customer support. Reporting & Feedback: Maintain accurate CRM records, activity reports, and feedback on competitor activity.

Requirements

Proven track record in B2B field sales, account management, and target achievement. Strong presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Excellent territory planning and self-management ability. Full UK driving licence & willingness to travel across the North of England (with occasional overnight stays). Desirable: Experience in optical/ophthalmic sales, healthcare, or medical devices.

Understanding of optical practices or NHS hospital procurement. Territory Covers Manchester, Leeds, Yorkshire, Durham, Newcastle, Carlisle, and surrounding areas (up to the Scottish border; excludes Scotland & Northern Ireland).
