Quality Control Technician

Position: Ready Mixed Concrete Quality Control Technician Location: Midlands, SC Pay: $20-$30 Per Hour Based on Experience Join our team as a Ready Mixed Concrete Quality Control Technician in the Midlands of South Carolina where you will be supporting our various plant locations and job sites and will play a crucial role in ensuring the highest standards of concrete quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct sampling and testing of raw materials including coarse and fine aggregates to verify conformity with specifications.
• Inspect ready mixed concrete before delivery to ensure it meets product standards.
• Perform tests on plastic concrete including slump, unit weight, air content, and temperature.
• Cast, cure, transport, and test concrete specimens to assess strength and durability.
• Conduct on-site visual inspections of concrete deliveries, ensuring quality through direct observation or by climbing into the truck drum.
• Aid delivery drivers and production personnel both at the plant and on-site.
• Support customers during concrete placement, ensuring satisfaction and resolving any issues promptly.
• Investigate product-related concerns and prepare comprehensive reports on strength and gradation.
• Assist in developing and testing new mix designs as required.
• Maintain and operate the onsite lab and equipment to ensure accurate testing and reporting.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Technical Services.

• Working Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week with overtime opportunities. Flexible shifts including day and night work.
• Working Environment: Outdoor settings with exposure to weather conditions, uneven terrain, traffic, heavy equipment, and construction sites.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel & Outlook). Ability to operate technical equipment including pickup trucks and communication tools.
• Manual Processes: Physical tasks include lifting weights up to 80 lbs (waist-high), climbing ladders, operating machinery, and handling wheel-barrels. Safety attire such as steel-toed boots, hardhat, and safety glasses are mandatory.
• Personal Contact: Regular interaction with customers, peers, and supervisors. Job Requirements: Licenses: Valid state Class “C” driver’s license. Certifications: ACI Field Testing Technician Grade 1 certification is required. Preferred certifications include ACI Concrete Strength and Laboratory Testing, DOT, or NRMCA Level II or III. Experience: Previous experience in concrete construction and/or concrete inspection is essential. Abilities: Strong communication skills with a customer-focused approach to decision-making. Physical: Capable of lifting heavy objects, working outdoors, climbing ladders, and adhering to strict safety protocols.
