About Triangle Veterinary Referral Hospital TVRH provides 24-hour emergency care and specialty referral services in surgery, internal medicine, cardiology, oncology, neurology, radiology, and rehabilitation. Our facilities offer advanced diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities, including digital radiography, ultrasonography, CT, MRI, endoscopy, laparoscopy, and in-house laboratory services.

Position Summary
The ER/ICU Veterinary Technician Assistant supports veterinary technicians and clinicians by helping provide efficient, high-quality patient care in a fast-paced emergency and critical care environment. This role also assists with hospital cleanliness, patient husbandry, stocking, and infection-control practices to help maintain a safe and organized workplace for patients, clients, and team members.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Care & Floor Support Safely and appropriately restrain canine and feline patients for procedures Assist veterinary technicians and clinicians with patient care and treatments Assist with positioning and obtaining patient radiographs Enter patient vital signs into Cornerstone and document completed treatments in Instinct Complete other basic patient record documentation as directed Proactively support team members throughout the hospital as needed Monitor supply levels and add needed items to the appropriate supply/want list Restock treatment areas and maintain organized workspaces Complete assigned daily and weekly cleaning responsibilities Follow hospital infection-control and infectious disease protocols Communication & Teamwork Communicate clearly and professionally with veterinary staff Maintain professionalism in high-pressure situations Demonstrate compassion and appropriate communication around clients experiencing stressful or emotional situations Identify concerns or operational issues and bring them to the attention of management Participate in identifying solutions when appropriate Required Skills & Competencies Successful candidates should demonstrate: Safe canine and feline restraint skills Strong teamwork and communication Initiative and willingness to assist where needed Attention to detail Flexibility in a fast-paced environment Problem-solving skills Strong written and verbal communication Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure Ability to follow established protocols and instructions Familiarity with veterinary medical terminology, veterinary software, animal first aid, and basic laboratory procedures is preferred.
Education
& Experience High school diploma or GED required Minimum of 1 year of professional veterinary experience required Professional experience with proper canine and feline restraint is required Emergency, specialty, or critical care experience is preferred Work Environment This position operates in a specialty and emergency veterinary hospital providing outpatient care, diagnostic procedures, treatments, surgery, and hospitalization for small companion animals.
Team members routinely work around: Dogs and cats of varying sizes and temperaments Computers and phones Radiology equipment Anesthesia machines Ultrasound equipment Oxygen therapy equipment IV fluid pumps Other veterinary medical equipment Physical Requirements This is a highly active position. Position Type & Schedule This is a full-time position within a veterinary healthcare facility that operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year . Schedule availability will be based on hospital and departmental needs. Weekend, holiday, and inclement-weather availability may be required.
