Food and Beverage Server Assistant
Job description
Summary/Objective Server assistants must move quickly and efficiently and maintain constant communication with the server on the status of each table. The server assistant needs to assist the server by ensuring that every guest’s needs, and special requests are met. He/she is the backbone of the service team, making sure that the basics of service are met, from water service , food running and resetting the table.
Essential Functions
Take ownership of requests from Servers, Bartenders, Members , and guests. Interact with members in a friendly , caring, and personalized manner. G reet members by offering them a warm, heartfelt welcome to the restaurant. Understand restaurant’s food and beverage preparation and be able to articulate the menu for personalized experience.
Ask questions to learn member preferences. Complete side-work duties to include but are not limited to dusting, window cleaning, organizing coolers, polishing glassware and silverware, deep cleaning the front of house spaces. M aintain the cleanliness of the restaurant and back of house areas Maintain the proper care and cleanliness of serving equipment.
Stack and handle china , glassware, and silver to avoid breakage Set and reset tables before, during and after service periods P olish silverware, glassware, share plates and fold napkins as necessary Bus/Clear tables during service period; assist servers with service steps where necessary Clean all spills, and broken glassware/dishes immediately , using floor signs when necessary E xpedit e food orders .
R efill beverages when appropriate and deliver beverage to tables. F ollow Food & Beverage sequence of service and a ll proper procedures standardized by Tributary Set up and breakdown Food and Beverage Events to include, chairs, tables, glassware and other tabletop wares. Adhere to all property and department policies and procedures.
Marginal Functions Ability to recall member names. S trive to exceed members’ expectations regardless of the request or department. Report to work in a neat and clean uniform with well-groomed hair and personal hygiene . Work Environment This position operates in a restaurant setting as well as out and about in the club grounds . The employee may be exposed to hazards including, but are not limited to, cuts, slipping, tripping, falls and burns. Frequent hand washing is required . Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The employee is occasionally required to sit, stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push and pull items weighing 50 pounds or less. The position requires manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills; and the ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures. Ability to work weekends, holidays, days, and nights with flexible hours . Schedule is subject to change, and applicants must be flexible with schedule adjustments. Travel No travel is expected for this position. Required Education and Experience Must be of legal age to serve alcohol. A high school diploma or equivalent.
Previous restaurant experience . Preferred Education and Experience Understanding of basic cocktails and/or bartending experience is preferred. Prior experience in a restaurant fine dining or refined service position preferred. Excitement and interest in food and beverage services and related components. Additional Eligibility Qualifications Must be fluent in English speaking, reading and writing.
