Solar PV Electrician

Looking for consistent work with a growing, family-run contractor? Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of social housing refurbishment projects, Connolly Ltd is looking for an experienced Solar PV Electrician to join our team.

Key Responsibilities

Complete the electrical installation of domestic solar PV systems in accordance with approved designs, specifications and manufacturer instructions. Install and connect DC cabling from roof-mounted solar panels to inverters, including suitable cable routing, containment, isolation and protection. Install and connect inverters, AC/DC isolators, protective devices, cabling and associated electrical equipment.

Install and connect battery storage systems, where required and appropriately trained. Complete AC connections to existing domestic electrical installations, including consumer units and distribution equipment where specified. Coordinate with roofing contractors to ensure suitable cable routes, roof penetrations and electrical connection arrangements.

Carry out electrical inspection, testing and commissioning, including verification of protective measures and system operation. Complete appropriate electrical certification, test results, commissioning records and system handover documentation. Maintain high standards of health and safety, workmanship and customer service when working in occupied properties.

Liaise professionally with tenants, clients, roofing contractors, supervisors and other members of the installation team. Ensure all work areas are left safe, clean and tidy and that documentation is completed accurately and promptly. Essential qualifications: Current BS 7671 18th Edition qualification. Recognised solar PV installation qualification.

Relevant electrical installation experience and a commitment to safe, compliant, high-quality workmanship. Desirable qualifications and experience: City & Guilds 2391 Inspection and Testing qualification, or equivalent. Previous experience installing, testing and commissioning solar PV systems. Battery storage installation experience.
