Job description
Classification Title: Roofer, Entry Level Classification Minimum Requirements: High school diploma (or equivalent) Job Description: Support other trades and contractors in new construction, maintenance, and repairs of facilities, structures, and equipment, including roofs, parapets, and related work. Assist with install, repair, and preventatively maintain various types of roofs, including shingle, metal, and BUR systems (e.
g., modified and gravel surfaced roofs). Assist with install, repair, and preventively maintain single-ply roofing systems (e.g., TPO, PVC, EPDM, and “Teflon” fabrics). Assist with resurfacing existing roofs with coating, fabric, and other materials. Assist with install, repair, and preventatively maintaining roof drain buckets, clamping rings, and flashings.
Point up and caulk parapet walls and masonry joints. Install dowel pins, reset parapet wall capstones, and perform related work. Assist with fabrication and install various sheet metal accessories (e.g., gutters, downspouts, and wall flashings). Clean roofs and gutter systems. Power wash various facilities and structures.
Assist with work in several trade areas Enter data (work requests and time) via the AiM system. Operate UF/state vehicles. Clean and maintain workshop and personal equipment. Perform other duties (as assigned by supervisor).

- Roofing Level 1 OJT Task List NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE:
- Schedule may vary depending on location
- Total of 40 hours per week
- Perform emergency work as needed
- Swing shift and standby duties as required
- Position considered as Essential Personnel as defined by UF Policy Expected Salary: $17.00 Hourly Required Qualifications: High school diploma (or equivalent) Preferred: EXPERIENCE: None noted KNOWLEDGE
- Knowledge of safe work practices in maintenance and repair work
- Knowledge of proper materials and equipment used for specific jobs
- Knowledge of planning, organizing, and coordinating work assignments SKILLS
- Skill in using hand tools, power tools, and equipment
- Skill in repairing BUR systems (e.g., modified, gravel surfaced, and shingle roofs)
- Skill in using high reach equipment
- Skill in using and pressure washing equipment
- Skill in preventively maintaining roofing systems
- Skill in working with single ply roof systems (including (but not limited to) TPO, EPDM, and “Teflon”) ABILITIES
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to reach above shoulder frequently
- Ability to kneel
- Ability to bend repeatedly
- Ability to read a service request
- Ability to recognize safe working practices in maintenance and construction
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments
