Purpose: (General description and summary) The Communications & Engagement Coordinator is a hands-on execution and project-management role responsible for turning New Narrative's impact, priorities and events into clear communications and meaningful stakeholder engagement. This role coordinates priority communications projects, fundraisers, facility openings and community events, the Annual Report, ongoing organizational storytelling, and selected digital and branded materials.
The role works closely with the Development Director so communications and events create opportunities for cultivation, stewardship, advocacy, recruitment and community connection. Accountabilities: (Responsibilities of the job) Communications, Storytelling & Content Develop, coordinate and repurpose mission, program, participant, peer and leadership content for priority organizational audiences and channels.
Project-manage the Annual Report, including content collection, internal coordination, editing, proofing, design coordination, accessibility, production, distribution and archiving. Own the editorial calendar; create, proof, obtain required approvals for, send and measure the newsletter; draft, schedule and publish social media posts; and maintain assigned website and blog content.
Coordinate specialist support as needed while retaining responsibility for timely publication. Lead hands-on communications and external engagement for Give!Guide and other annual campaigns: create and publish campaign content; coordinate promotion with participating nonprofits and businesses; and keep the communications calendar and partner deliverables on track.
Work with the Development Director on fundraising messages and relationship follow-up. Coordinate story, photo and video asset development; maintain organized, reusable content and digital assets that can support fundraising, grants, advocacy, recruitment and public education. Manage event workplans, invitations, stakeholder communications, RSVP coordination, vendors, accessibility, run of show, signage, materials, day-of execution and post-event follow-up in partnership with the Development Assistant and other owners.
Serve as the operational lead for the annual gala and other major donor events: coordinate invitation design and production, event communications, vendors and program logistics; manage the run of show and day-of execution; and oversee operational closeout. Partner with the Development Director, who leads revenue strategy, sponsorship, prospect cultivation and asks.
Coordinate community partnerships, volunteer opportunities and selected participant/family engagement activities consistent with organizational privacy guidance and participant choice. Lead communications and engagement planning for approved community partnerships and activities. Storytelling & Relationship-Building Find and tell stories of New Narrative's people, programs, history and impact, gathering interviews, photos and other material with appropriate consent and fact-checking.

Project Management, Systems & Vendor Coordination Use Asana as the primary system for communications and event project plans, deadlines, approvals, responsibilities and follow-up; keep project status current and visible.
Coordinate work with communications consultants, PR vendors, graphic designers, photographers, videographers and other specialists; ensure deliverables meet New Narrative's brand, quality and timeline expectations. Maintain priority website and digital content updates and coordinate technical support when work exceeds the role's scope.
Support earned-media opportunities by sourcing accurate stories, spokespeople, background information, visuals and event details; collaborate with PR vendors or leadership on pitching and media response as assigned. Use analytics and stakeholder feedback to improve communications and engagement work and document useful event/contact information for Development follow-up.
Use AI-enabled workplace tools responsibly to support drafting, editing, content adaptation, planning and workflow while protecting confidential or protected information and independently reviewing final work.
